Yarn Along - Keep Calm And Knit On

Easier said than done, but it's 10:00 and I haven't cried yet today.  Trying to stay positive.

Here are some random shots from the last several days of Maisie-sitting.  While I am way behind for the Iknitarod, I haven't given up.  We might have another day or so before the Red Lantern is extinguished.  I made decent progress yesterday and am ready to start the lace edging.  I'm running short on yarn though, but again...trying to stay positive.  At least running out of yarn is something I can fix ;-).

Having spent as much time with Maisie as an adult lately as I spent with her as a baby, I'm beginning to wonder how many times (every day?) she nearly kills herself and we don't even know it.  There's almost a whole acre of grass in this paddock and she's tangled up eating in a weed thicket???

"Tell me about it.  That's why I have to watch her so closely!"

One thing I've really enjoyed is watching Maisie and Blossom together.  I knew they were good buddies and that Maisie seemed to look up to Blossom like a big sister, but Blossom also looks after Maisie like she's her little sister.  They are not related nor came from the same farm.  They are just good friends.

B. Willard has been very interested in the knitting.  And he can be trusted with the knitting.  Blossom is another one who is really interested in the knitting...but it might just be the accessories she likes - not to be trusted.  Maisie just wants to grab everything and throw it around.  Keebler could not care less about any of it ;-).

The sheep in the back right is Jester.  He is doing great :-).

Just the perfect title for this post! Hugs to you, Sweet Friend!

I was wondering... would giving her some sort of a cleansing oil, so she expels all of the stuff from her tummy and her intestines, be a safe way to try to resolve the problem?

I read about it in a few places... non-English language (EU) blogs and scientific papers.... just a thought....

If you can't fix a problem ... then embrace it.
If nothing else, Maisie will enjoy the hug!
Best of luck to both of you.

I think Maisie is suffering from a version of ADD(attention deficit disorder)... she is missing your attention and is probably enjoying every minute you are spending with her. Just wish she would find a less stressful way of getting it.

Not crying till 10 AM is a good thing! Interesting observations you have made during your watchful hours. Think positive...have you told her to just poop it out already! :)

Just caught up with your blog. Here's hoping all will be well with that stinker, Maisie! Give her hugs and kisses for me. And you just hang in there. It will be okay!

There are certainly worse ways to pass the time watching a patient than sitting in the sun and knitting with lovely yarn from a friend's wool. ;-)

How ideal to have sheep, stories to share about them, and wool to use.

All the pictures in your post are so peaceful....little would anyone guess what Maisie's put you through in the last few days. Take a page from Maisie's book - if things are OK right this minute, then be happy and enjoy your family/friends and do the things you love.

I'm sorry that you are spending so much time fretting over the Danger Lamb. They do seem to go out of their way to get into trouble sometimes, don't they? Hugs to you and Maisie.

I keep hoping that you will find a well chewed, cuddish looking chunk of twin. Hang in there.

Fretting along with you during your Maisie vigil, I am reminded of a time when my 34 year old son swallowed a diamond ring at the tender age of 2. After a frantic trip to the pediatrician, x-rays, etc., then came the "watch for it" vigil. Toddlers and sheep; can't relax for a moment, it seems.....
I hope Maisie's issue resolves itself soon.

Warm Regards, Lisa in Oregon

I am glad to see progress on your knitting and I'm still praying for Maisie. I'm glad Hank is on your side :)

I try to remember that almost always, almost everything turns out ok.

I can think of so many things that might not. I could easily ruin every day of my life worrying about a million things, nearly all of which will not happen.

I'm trying really hard to NOT do that.

The balance between "sensible planning" and "obsessing over possible bad outcomes" is not one that is easy for me to strike!

Continuing to send good thoughts that Maisie continue to thrive, hanging out with her BFFs in the sunshine.

I am still sending healing thoughts and wishes for you and your Maisie. Oh my, I know the worrying involved, I hope you get breaks from it now and then.
