A Little Known Fact About Maisie

Maisie's tail is curled at the bottom.  Any resemblance to a fat little piggy's tail is completely coincidental!  Just kidding, Maisie.  Sorta ;-).

Shearing went well today.  They sheared Maisie standing up so we didn't risk sloshing her rumen around.  She was very naughty...as was expected.  What I didn't expect was the temper tantrum after they finished and she didn't get to go. back. outside. immediately.  She marched back and forth along the gate with that tail FLYING!  Maisie without that tail just wouldn't be Maisie :-).

The shawl made it as far as running fishing line through the edges and soaking, but it's "taking an extra 8 hours" so I can go get some sleep.  More tomorrow.

Ramsey and Emma both have a kink at the end of their tails as well. Maybe it is the mark of a special soul:)

Maisie looks great and so does your weather. Between all that you have done with and for her along with the Iknitarod must have you totally exhausted. Things need to return to normal so you can leave the farm!!!

Clever idea to shear Maisie standing up. She looks no worse for wear!!

'Girl's got a temper! I'm remembering the hat butting and stomping incident at halloween. Hope it stays warm now that the sheepies are nekkid.

Love her long tail... I remember on hubby's sheep farm they used to leave most of the tails long too... so cute! Maisie is quite the character and looks so much smaller now that she's sheared!

I have never seen a shorn sheep with a tail. I have been dreaming about shearing. It has been so long since I have done it. I think we will be doing it with the sheep standing also. I would love to see a photo of that tail in the air.

Maisie looks good! Nice smooth shearing job. But it would have been fun to leave a big tuft at the tip of her tail like a lion since she has the attitude! Maybe next year.

Oh wow. I've been offline for a while. I'm so sorry to hear about Maisie's trauma, but super glad to hear she's ok so far.
