Goodnight Moon

I thought for sure we were going to miss the lunar eclipse tonight, but a few minutes before it started, the clouds drifted apart and other than a slight foggy haze, we could see it all.  Very cool!

I did some reading ahead of time to try to learn how to best capture it and one of the top tips was to include something like a building or trees as a frame of reference or set the stage.  Sometimes I get shots with the trees heading up Stella's driveway, but tonight the moon was pretty high in the sky and with no lit up capital building handy, I'll have to use words to set the stage.

I was sitting out on the Grahaminator2000 using the wall as a back rest and my knees, elbows and forehead as my tripod.  Liddy came out there with me and so did Hank, Baaxter, Spud, Woody and Maisie.  I took a few breaks to give everyone back scratches and apparently I wasn't giving Maisie enough turns so she bit me!  Luckily she only got my jeans or it might have been "BANG, ZOOM! Straight to the moon!"*

 I guess that about sets the stage ;-).

Okay, I'm headed out to see how what it looks like now.  I hope everyone got a chance to watch.

* How many remember that?

Oh wow, wonderful captures of the lunar eclipse. Here in South Africa, I had to rise and "shine" at 3.20am to get my shots. No, I can't remember... Have a great day. Jo (South Africa) PS Maisie is like my Shadow cat. If I don't take notice of him, he bite me, often and painfully!

How beautiful! Thanks so much for posting these photos. We were totally socked in here and saw only thick, boring clouds. I checked several times during the night, but the cloud cover was so thick I couldn't even see the pre-eclipse moon's reddish glow. :(

Thank you! I didn't see it in person as I was still trying to catch up with sleep deprivation from the trip.

Great shots. I did see it here and it was very cool.

"Right to the moon Alice!" Yes, know them all by heart. That's how old I am!

Beautiful photos. A little over half the moon was covered when I went to bed. Good golly Miss Maisie, You shouldn't bite your feeder. I do remember the Honeymooners and the long suffering Alice. Did you get to sleep in this morning?

Because of my name, I've heard it more than once!
Maisie is a little dickens ! Did she bite after Liddie and the boys came or has she always been assertive?
