Sainthood?

So...even as only a casual hockey fan I am aware of the practice of growing out your "Playoff Beard".  Yes, there's a Wikipedia page for Playoff Beard (shaking head...).  Saint Tim somehow ended up growing not just a beard, but also his hair.

His Chicago Blackhawks made it all the way through the long playoff season (hair growing), culminating in winning the coveted Stanley Cup.   The night they won I happily stupidly posted this on Twitter.

Tim and his brothers are huge hockey fans.  Obviously.  They are also consummate smart [alecs].  Tim decided he was going to leave his hair long until July 4th when he was headed to Chicago to see them.  Then he had the brilliant idea to have me cut it into a mullet like one of their favorite players, Patrick KaneSomehow I fell for this Tim assured me that he would have it cut "normal" before the trip back home and even took the clippers with him.

The "sweet, sweet mullet" was well received.  Too well received.  He wore it home.  And through the weekend.  And last night when our neighborhood WORKED THE GATE AT THE COUNTY FAIR!

"Sweet mullet!"

"I wish I could grow one!"

"I can't take my eyes off it!"

"We should call it the Hawk's Nest!"

Are you kidding me?!?

Apparently sainthood is bestowed after proof that someone has performed a miracle.  I think it's a miracle that I haven't killed him...yet ;-).

Let's vote on it!  Should Saint Tim get his haircut?  (poll on upper right)

Well, since this is the only photo I think I've ever seen of him, this IS his "normal" look to me! I'd have to see his usual haircut to be able to vote. Personally, this looks kinda cute! ;-)

I was afraid of something like this!

I think you should sneak in at night and give him a regular haircut and save the hair to blend with some Maizie wool and knit him a hat to wear next time there is a playoff.

Does he always were sunglasses in the house or just for this picture?

I voted for a haircut. I'm a Blackhawks fan too and I especially like Patrick Kane, but Patrick's beard and hair looked ridiculous this year. Tim needs to get a new role model.

For the photo op - 'cause it looks SO much better with the glasses...

Saint CrazySheepLady. Has a nice ring to it.
I was secretly relieved when my beloved Caps bowed out of the playoffs early. At least then I could get the men in my life to shave. But they decided to see the Blackhawks all the way. 2 sons have still not shaved. I commiserate with you.

Cut the haIr. And I am not just sayin' that cuz there are Red Wings Fans in this house. I don't want to have to bring you knitting needles and wool in jail!
P.S. my husband has done play off hair via a mustache and goatee in previous years. Gosh. I hope he doesn't blame this years outcome on the fact that he did NOT grow his facial hair this year......

Sweet mullet. Too funny.

He's happy to grow some hair! Let him have it for a while! I did like the curl and hairspray on the 4th.

Just be thankful that he's not going for the Duck Dynasty look. :)

well... unfortunately you know the only way to end this all is to do what us females know how to do well when push comes to shove...although it hurts us just as much...

'here honey, heres your pillow and a nice blanket. When you get sheared, you will be allowed back into the matrimonal fold...with bells on"

sometimes a woman's got to do what a womans' got to do... ;p

Got any nice long sheeps curls? Just weave some of those in while he's asleep. He'll be begging for a hair cut. Which,of course, you will object to 'cause he looks so good as a sheep.
I see short hair in St. Tim's future.

I think it takes 2 confirmed miracles to be nominated for sainthood. First would be growing the hair for his team......second would be cutting it for the DW! Although, That Andy is getting the back-of-the-neck part of the mullet, just not the top-of-the-head part so I shouldn't talk.

As soon as you stop talking about it, the fun will be over and the hair will go. Betcha.

As I keep going back to the picture to make my decision I can't help but notice that not only is it a mullet, but it kind of has a Mohawk theme going on as well. That actually makes it double cool, in a way that makes most women cringe.

Tough call....hard not to go with a free spirit and all. (definition of "free spirit" being someone who wears crazy hair in spite of getting laughed at everywhere they go)

Dude! Business in the front, party in the baaaaack! I hear Wayne's World is coming out with a new sequel-maybe Tim could audition.

I'm a bit of a radical in that I like long hair on a guy. However mullets not so much. They are not the height of fashion around my neck of the woods. BUT, if someone likes it, and is brave enough to wear it, then they should go for it. Eventually, they'll come to their senses and either let it all grow out, or chop it off nicely.

Bah, ha, ha. Sonic, definitely Sonic.

My husband would say if you have hair you should flaunt it! :)

Frankly, Tim's a good looking Dude, so I doubt he's gonna keep the asylum look for long. Kinda looks like he was on the losing end of a clipper fight.

That's not the Saint Tim I remember. Tell me he loves the look....

I agree that Kane's hair/beard are not his best look. Actually, Tim's looks much better than Patrick's. But if he is going for the 'in' look, maybe that is not it. I am glad Tim is healthy and happy and can GROW hair. Congrats to the Blackhawks...great season GREAT final MINUTE of game 6. Love your blog.

very funny but if you ignore it 'it' will go away. may be hard to look and not chuckle though........

Aw, leave him alone! He's just playing with his hair while he still has hair to play with!

Not a sports fan. In fact I didn't know fans did this until this post.

If it gets hot enough outside, the hair will go. And - it will get hot.

And even though I am not sure about the hair thing - I am curious about the black cord coming from the back of his head.

Do you have to plug him in every night? Is that how he has so much energy to do all those farm tasks?

I love this post. Reminds me of a time I was gone for a weekend...flew home, arrived midnight or so. A video tape was on the stairs with "play me" written on it.
I put it in the VCR. On this tape was my husband, giving my 6-year old son a haircut. First, it looked normal. Then, his entire head was shaved with the exception of a tremendous mullet. It was at this point that my son decided he liked it this way, and my dear hubby, a bit of a hair man himself (when he had some) decided to leave it!
It was really a self control exercise for me. But I did laugh, a lot, and my son LOVED his mullet.
Gads.

One more thing - Saint TIm's beard and mullet kind of match. Like one of those two-faced puppets, you know? Creepy.

Please tell Tim they don't even where mullets anymore in the home of the mullet, Canada.
I couldn't be seen with a guy with a mullet.
Scott plays games with me like that too only since he doesn't have hair on his head, he likes to do stupid things with his facial hair to irritate me!

I'm thinking a guy who can tolerate lambs in the kitchen, crazy Betsy flying wildly through the house and converting the front porch to a winter resort for the cats should be allowed a little craziness with his hair! :-)

You know, if you embrace his look, tell him how much you like it and start giving suggestions as to how it could be "improved", he might just lose interest. Worked for my teenager years ago! :-)

St. Tim's haircut was the subject of our breakfast this morning. Tell Tim thanks for infuluencing my teenage sons. Two of them now want to grow their hair out! ;) Awesome mullet was what they keep saying. (shaking head...)
