Sunday Stills - New Beginnings

Well, you know what this post is going to be ;-).

I spent Saturday afternoon over at The Training Center in Paris, Kentucky, home to some of my favorite sheep (Ewen McTeagle, B. Willard and sweet Lorna Dune Buggy) and favorite shepherds, Vergil and Annmarie Holland.

They'd been watching a Scottish Blackface ewe and decided she needed some help. With the help of one of their Border Collies they were quickly able to catch her even out in the open field. Annmarie repositioned the lamb and pulled it. At first everything seemed fine, but they quickly realized it wasn't.

Without missing a beat, she started CPR (even mouth to mouth) and in the eternity that was actually only about five minutes, the little lamb finally started breathing and everyone took a big breath. I'd love to be that competent.

His first attempt to stand.

Meanwhile, back at the lamb bar...

I could have held this precious little lamb while she slept all afternoon. Nothing cuter. Nothing.

Well, maybe this freckled face.

Gotta love those good guard dogs. He's watching the new lamb - up and at it and doing just fine :-).

While we watched the older lambs race around.

Happy Easter!!!

I'm so impressed that the last little lamb could say Happy Easter. What a great series of photos and videos. I can't believe you don't have a bottle baby yet. Happy Easter to you and Saint Tim. It's a beautiful day up here.

They are adorable.
I wondered about the missing tails, but I guess you either have a different breed of sheep or some sort of pest problem that we don't have to deal with here.

LambS! How absolutely perfect for this challenge! And how cool that you know Mr. Holland. I have one of his books which was a tremendous help to me back when the BCs were young and I was learning to train them a bit. I still refer to it all the time.

I keep going back and looking at the pictures over and over again! They are so darling! I love the Border Collie (?) supervising as the milk is poured for the lambs. I adore the airborne lamb leaping over (off?) the pile of dirt (?). Love the one in mid-maaaaa. The lamb races were exhausting to watch! I love them all! Want to hug them!

I'd say that you've outdone yourself in the photography department! Some of these pictures are incredible! I think my very favorite is the one of the BC watching Mom poor milk into the lamb bar.

Your photos put us RIGHT THERE!

I think this has been my favourite S.S. post so far. Nothing says new beginnings like babies and lambs at Easter are perfect. Happy Easter! That black face is just the CUTEST!

That video watching the lamb try to stand for the first time is so adorable! He's up! Nope, he's down. Bless his wee heart!

And the lamb races. Growing up on a dairy farm I loved watching the calves race and kick up their heels. And then it would be a group nap.
