The longwools (Woolliam, Keebler, B. Willard, Buddy, Rebecca Boone, Hershey) have nine months growth instead of six this year, so the staple length is really nice.  Long, but not too long and no one had a heatstroke last summer :-).

Lila.  This is my sleeper favorite this year.  Lila just cruises along under the radar...

Buddy...the best curls...and the "best" lanolin producer ;-).  It really does wash out.  Just be prepared with super hot water!

Keebler - another grease ball, but we know how he cleans up :-).

Chocula on the left, Ford on the right.  Guess how much Chocula weighed!  Well, you'll never guess because the picture just doesn't really capture it.  13.5 pounds :-o.  Daniel weighed just over 13! That's a lotta sweaters!  I'd be willing to divide those two fleeces into two 6.5 pound fleeces...which is still a lotta sweaters :-D.

The forecast is looking a bit damp for this weekend...so just dress appropriately and come have some fun anyway :-D.

A Different Kind Of Camp

We finally got some rain yesterday afternoon.  Yes, after months of too much rain, we were now starting to get too dry and the temps have been more like July than May :-(.  Liddy, Kate, Tilly, the cats and I rode out the storm on the back porch.  When it was over, we headed back out to "play".  I went to the lavender garden to pull weeds while the dirt was soft.

As I picked around, checking each plant for signs of growth after a winter that was too cold and too wet for most lavender, I was happy to find only 10 plants needed to be replaced.  I noticed one of the dead ones had a strange seed head or something stuck in it.  I looked closer.

Tiny tiny tiny seeds of something...  Wait, I know what this is!  I ran to the house to grab my camera.

After years of carefully watching these egg sacks, I was finally getting to see one hatch out!  I've been dying to see this!

Who's My Big Brother?

LannieK was the Random.org winner for her guess.  She'd guessed Woody (a good guess) and also asked how Woody and d'boys were doing.  They're all a little jealous of Liddy (or maybe it's just Baby B who's jealous ;-), but I think they understand she's their little sister and especially Spud loves to stand at the gate talking to her.  

They are also getting excited about the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival this coming weekend! They'll be there working hard (they hope) in the festival's Hug a Sheep booth to benefit the local FFA and 4-H groups.  The hugging booth will be "open" from 1:00 to 3:00 both Saturday and Sunday and the rest of the time they'll be free to mug you for a FEW cookies and crackers.

I'm getting excited about the festival, too.  I have several fleeces I think are competition worthy and a skein of yarn to enter.  All the 2015 fleeces are skirted and look great.  The t-shirts (!) are supposed to be delivered today and I'm very nervously waiting for them.  Saint Tim's working on the new set of Lamb Camp cards and Auntie Reg and I are working on some hand painted spinning aprons.  

Liddy has been helping with sleeping through (which really is a help!) everything, especially the skirting.  I even had to hold her for her Mug Shot.  That's supposed to be the Maisie sweater I'm wearing and a white turtle neck...although now that Auntie Reg has pointed it out to me, my neck does look really long.  Long and thin!  Yeah, that's what it is ;-D

Happy Camera Or Dirty Boot Day

A week or so ago, when Liddy was still little-y, I took her with me out to work in the lavender garden.  She tootled around for a bit following me up and down the rows as I pulled weeds and then, when she got tired, put herself down for a nap.

I noted where she was and that she was okay and continued up the row.  I reached the end and saw she'd curled up with my camera.  Awwww.  And I stopped working :-).

Boots also work.

But her favorite place is next to her mom :-).
