I left a comment on FB, but wanted to here as well...

And I'll say again that my heart is broken reading this news - This is because I know I'm not the only one that will say that I feel like I've lost one of my own dogs because you shared Hank with all of us for so long. God speed to a devoted and loved companion who was so many things to so many.

Sara, Tim and Maisie, this news really crushes me. Please read knitwitkimwagner blog. She has an anonymous poem on there that starts “Every time I lose a dog......”. Many many virtual hugs to all of you.

Oh no, not Hank 😩

Like others who have written in response to your post, I have been worrying that Hank was not going to be with y'all much longer. He was a gallant dog, so serious and dedicated to his life work. I am very sad that he is gone. Thanks for letting all of us know.

My condolences. Even when you've worked with and kept many animals and pets for decades, it truly is an unwelcome kick in the gut that'll take the wind right out of your sails when you lose them. Very sorry for your loss. Take care. M.

A family member, a friend and a partner. So many holes left when a BWD passes. 💧

Safe journey Hank and may those left behind find peace.

Oh this is very hard news. I am so sorry for the loss of Hank. He has been greeted by all the farm friends that went before him. What a reunion.
Strength, comfort and light too all of you left behind.
Poem by Kipling called “His Apologies”. Begins “Master, this is Thy Servant. He is rising eight weeks old”
Ends “Lord, make haste with Thy Lightnings and grant him a quick release. “

It's hard to imagine that a heart that brave and loyal would ever stop beating. We are so sad for you and Tim and Maisie and everyone who loved Hank and felt safe because he was there. He really was a Good Dog. I hope his spirit guides the new flock protector whenever he/she should come into your lives.

Oh Sarah, I am heartbroken to hear of Hank's passing. He was such a stalwart presence in your photos and in your daily life. It's so worth it to have precious creatures fill our lives with love, but damn it saying goodbye hurts to much. I'm so sorry for your loss.
