Good Morning!

It's really been interesting watching the dog and dog and dog and flock dynamics change over the last month and a half.  June is very sheep oriented and enjoys sitting and sleeping near them.  Hank has always seemed to mostly prefer maintaining his own personal space.

I don't really blame Hank.  He had a tough job being the first guardian dog this opinionated flock had ever had.  He got quite a bit of flack early on from some of the tougher personalities.  June was able to cash in on all of his hard work and with her calm, confident personality has settled the sheep even more.

This is where I found them this morning, soaking up some warm winter sun, sitting with their sheep.  I love how much more relaxed Hank is now.

"Oh, hi!"

"Whatcha got over there, Hank?"

Two good dogs.  A great team.

I noticed in the last two pictures that the two of them are in the exact same posture in each picture (right down to the tucked-under left front in the penultimate pic). Then I looked back at the earlier ones, and it seems to be true there, too. Looks to me like a loyal and devoted apprentice, saying "me and you, we're a team."

Taking care of everyone is a big job. I can see how Hank would be very glad to share some of the responsibility, given a trustworthy and reliable assistant.

Love them.........................

What a wonderful pair! It's so nice to hear that June's deferential presence has had a calming influence on Hank.

Captain and corporal! I'm glad Hank has a subordinate on whom he can offload some responsibility. Imagine having to safeguard the more (sometimes, uh, challenging denizens of Equinox Farm. And having to protect them from those horses! Hank probably looks over the flock, then looks at June, and gives a "thank goodness" sigh every morning. He certainly seems to be more peacefully soaking up the sunshine.

I think Hank is pretty happy that June has his back.

I bet they are really glad for each other's company and with having two of them it makes the job easier for each of them!

Good dog June, I hope her chewing has calmed a bit and all electrical is safe.
She is learning from the best and it is good for Hank to have company. How is Kate doing? :)
