The Other Neighbor Kid

Another shot from up the lane.

"Ethel?  What are you doing down there?"

Going on 13 years ago now when I painted my first Equinox Farm Christmas card we didn't have quite so many "characters".  There were several new ones though and I thought a card introducing them would be fun.  I'd put a diagram on the back with everyone's names and thought that would be the end of that.

Of course, as I formatted the back diagram, I ended up with four names on one side and three on the other...and that's just wrong (:-o)...so I quickly added in a cardinal and named him "Some neighbor kid".  He ended up being the star of the card and every year since then he's been included somehow.

So, speaking of Christmas cards, does anyone have a great idea for what everyone could be doing this year?  I'm drawing a blank and thinking we've covered pretty much all the wintertime activities.

How do the sheep feel about Pokemon Go in the snow or are they too young to have their own cell phones? :-)

Have you ever done one where all the "characters" are in the house..... maybe sitting around a big table eating Christmas dinner?

thecrazysheeplady said...

No. Cell. Phones. :-o

That's brilliant! Probably not in the house because then the horses...couldn't/shouldn't be in there, but they could be eating around a "table" outside with Cheerios and nilla wafers and saltines and home grown hay and carrots and apples and we could have a kids table and...what on earth would Maisie be doing...

Kate said...

Yeah, what would Maisie be doing? Maybe ringing a little bell for more food to be served. :D

thecrazysheeplady said...

Or being sent to her room for bad behavior ;-D.

How about the whole group of them, wearing handknit (of course) scarves & mittens & toques, all going out carroling?

thecrazysheeplady said...

We did caroling sort of, year three I think. Of course, if they went out caroling around the neighborhood, someone could get confused and dress up for Halloween...oh where is Graham when you need him :-o.

Sleigh ride?

Year four, I think :-).

Baking and decorating cookies

Tree or barn decorating? Wrapping gifts?

Unwrapping gifts...in and out of boxes, playing with paper and ribbons, not so much with the gifts.

I am guessing they have made snow angels or built a snowman before? I do like Kate's suggestion.

All in hand knits playing on or around the "unit"!

Arguing about politics!

I think all of the animals should be sacked out in the barn dreaming of sugar plums.

Maybe its time for them to decorate the tree?

I'm guessing Bullwinkle won't be getting a Red Ryder BB gun because he could put somebody's eye out. Maybe watching A Charlie Brown Christmas on TV?

T.L. Merrybard said...

You could always jump hemispheres and have a summer scene. :D

Bullwinkle driving the Unit, with passengers. I assume its tires will go in the snow.

But if you use this suggestion, please don't let Bullwinkle see it. That might give him Ideas.

thecrazysheeplady said...

What is fox and goose?

thecrazysheeplady said...

That's a cute idea!

thecrazysheeplady said...

Charlie Brown would be fun! And, nope, no BB guns ;-D.

thecrazysheeplady said...

Iris baked cookies a couple years ago...

thecrazysheeplady said...

Done tree and barn decorating. Wrapping gifts might be interesting.

thecrazysheeplady said...

Maisie would be eating the ribbon :-o.

thecrazysheeplady said...

Have not done snow angels. That's a thought!

thecrazysheeplady said...

NEVER! :-o

thecrazysheeplady said...

We did a sweater for Hank one year, but not the sheep wearing hand knits.

thecrazysheeplady said...

:-o

thecrazysheeplady said...

We did that a couple years ago...

thecrazysheeplady said...

We are all wanting to jump hemispheres NOW :-D.

thecrazysheeplady said...

Exactly! He already has plenty of ideas haha :-).

thecrazysheeplady said...

Any time we can try to make Maisie wear something is a good time :-D.

thecrazysheeplady said...

That's an interesting idea. How they'd look different and if they'd still look like angels...

I like the snow angels and Kate and Bullwinkle driving the unit and making their own Christmas message in the snow with its tire tracks.

Baxter and Burrnie need to be on their space ship, too.

Waiting in a line - - sort of- - to tell Santa what they want for Christmas?

thecrazysheeplady said...

Maybe pass on a predator game :-o.

thecrazysheeplady said...

That's a cute idea because we've actually done that in real life as humane society fundraiser!

I like the snow angel ideas as in "were are sNO Angels even if everyone thinks so." How about some snow angels and some curling on the pond? And a campfire to roast cherrios:)

Fiona said...

Could they be planning a winter vacation....Like winter break in Florida.....

thecrazysheeplady said...

Ooh, curling! And LOVE sNO angels ;-D.

thecrazysheeplady said...

We are all thinking about doing a summer card about moving to Alaska!

Lisa W said...

Love the snow angels idea - different animal shapes - and somehow getting BWs new vehicle in there. How about an Iditarod theme one year? With Hank as lead dog, of course. Oh, my, I could start a whole story about this one - Maisie digging in her heels, lots of snacking the 'dogs', the Aurora Borealis. Off to daydream about cooler days ...
