Sunday Stills - Happiness Is...

What makes you happy? Simple challenge this week.

I've missed so many Sunday Stills weeks that just being here with Ed's group today makes me happy :-).  So many things make me happy that I'd never get this post finished, so I'm going to narrow it down to just things that make me happy with this group of photographs.

1.  I love my zinnias.  So much color every summer, all summer long.
2.  I love where that garden sits.  I can see it from the house, the wool house wash room, the barn aisle, walking up the driveway.
3.  I love how the sun hits all the flowers in the afternoon and how they look as I walk to the barn in late afternoon can't be beat.
4.  I love seeing all the bees and butterflies using and enjoying them, too.

5.  I love how the sun is shining through this Monarch's wings like stained glass.

6.  I love how if you look closely (click to biggify) you can see that this is a Monarch with some mileage.

7.  Who knew that butterflies got wrinkles?
8.  I love that I can see so much detail if I catch a good shot.
9.  I love that butterflies flit around so much that you have to catch a good shot to really stop and look at them.
10.  Butterfly claws.

11.  Monarch's polka dotted bodies.
12.  Drinking through a built in straw, their proboscis.

13.  Photobombs by flying insects.
14.  That they happen all the time.

15.  The goldfish flying in from the right in this picture.
16.  The sunflowers are pretty sweet, too :-).
17.  It makes me happy to be home to see these beautiful things.
18.  It makes me happy to be able to do little things to help these beautiful things.
19.  It makes me happy to be able to take pictures of these beautiful things.
20.  It makes me happy to have neat people to share them with.

What makes you happy?  Everyone leave a comment.  We'll draw for a happy prize :-D.

Joining in with Sunday Stills...

It always make me happy to see your beautiful pictures. The monarch with wrinkles is probably just out it's cocoon it takes few hours for the wings to dry out and on this one you can see clearly the two black dots on the hind wings, it's a male.

I love that you can throw zinnia seeds into the garden in late May through June and have flowers until frost!

The color of the autumn leaves on the mountainside; the smell of the animals in the farmers' fields and barn lots as I drive past (yes, I know that is the smell of poop but I still love it); the feel of wool sliding through my fingers when I spin; the whirring of my antique wheels as I treadle gently...

I probably should mention my farm, my friends, shooting stars, and singing birds. Oh, and reading your blog, Kris's blog, and seeing those puppies on the Ranching with Sheep blog.

You should never have asked me this...how could I not mention TOMATOES from my garden and sweet corn, bacon and eggs, pictures of Hank, great hay, healthy and happy sheep and cattle, good grass for the livestock, and rain.

Your pictures and your blog make me happy. Was so glad to see Sunday Stills this morning.
The wee bit of fall in the air in the early morning also made me happy today.

My family, our home by a river , and our beautiful garden. It is home to many birds, bees and butterflies. I am happy to see monarchs in your garden. I have seen one so far in mine.

Vibrations from our bees on our lavender, purple cone flowers, Russian sage, all our flowers! I love hearing the bees, but standing and feeling their vibrations make me happy.

Mowing the lawn and weeding the flower and veggie gardens. Sitting with my 6 sheep in our back pasture with a good book and cup of tea. That's happiness and almost zen like, unless I take cookies out to eat, then the girls are attacking me to share!

The sheep lounging in the shade, the dog sleeping on my foot, the cooler weather and rain that is supposed to move in tonight, the sunflowers that finally got their act together, the geese grazing in the yard.

Do you have flying goldfish in Kentucky?? I think that's really neat and I do love that. :)

I've never thought I liked zinnias, but you are convincing me. And I didn't know Monarchs had spotted bodies; cool!

Happiness is... when family and animals are all well and healthy. When you can sleep with the windows open and hear the night sounds, when a big pot of something delicious is almost done and the house smells so good, when a big job is finished and I reward myself with something that's just for fun! January first, when it seems like this year I might actually get Everything done!!

You have captured some beautiful shots here. I especially love that first shot with the wonderful light.

All of the above:). Plus, a walk in the woods, a barn full of hay, dandelions, a job done and donkeys. Donkeys know how to be happy.

Oh my goodness, so many things to make me happy already listed. Let's see: Sunrises, butterflies, baby animals (all kinds), good friends, family, crochet, counted cross stitch, Green Bay Packer wins, this blog; well, that's a good start to the list anyway.

Have a good day Sara -- thanks for the happy pictures~

Happiness is all of my family in good health - so precious, and so under appreciated, until someone become ill, is hurt, or requires medical treatment. Yes, this is a quiet happiness - it isn't "splashy" like achieving some big accomplishment, being able to enjoy beautiful scenery (unless that enjoyment is because the cataract surgery worked) - like I said, it's under appreciated.

Fantastic photographs like yours, even if I didn't take them! The jaw-dropping work of a good border collie, and young lambs.

I love your pictures. My happy moment today was watching a bald eagle soaring over head, three loons on the lake and a great blue heron standing on the end of the dock.

One thing that makes me happy is gathering eggs. Doesn't matter how many I get,it's about finding them.Sharing your sheep adventures via your blog makes me happy too.The simplest things bring me the most happiness.

What makes me happy is to wake up to a new day with enough strength and energy to do a few things I love. Being permanently disabled due to 3 failed spine surgeries and the complications thereof, things like reading your blog and others, spending an hour or so outside knitting in the fresh air, are very precious to me.

your post made me happy! I love early mornings alone with coffee in silence. knitting always knitting :)

I love the forest in the mornings, the way the light streams through the trees and lights up my wee flower bed. How the early morning sun hits the greenhouse and lights it up - wake up veggies! Morning knitting on the back deck makes me happy :-) Along side coffe and reading Punkin's Patch ~ a perfect way to start the day... thanks, Sara! I love your zinnia and butterfly pix!
