Sunday Stills - Fade To Black

"...include the color black into either the subject or the background…"

Iris. I had fun playing with different aperture settings with this shot. I think this one has just the right amount of toe blur. When her front feet were less blurry the photo was too busy. When they were more blurry it kind of lost interest.

In honor of Ed's last Sunday Stills challenge, I thought I'd try for a sunset silhouette...and ended up with a power line shot. That was one of the most memorable challenges for me because after Ed pointed out how many times power lines spoil shots, I now see them everywhere!

Blossom's white and her cot is navy blue...but using the Tadaa app on my iPhone, I've faded her into black ;-).

Those eyelashes.

For more Sunday Stills...

Iris's tail looks like someone combed it with a sheep card, LOL. Love the sunset. How do you keep Blossom from tipping over the cot or getting her leg caught in the springs. She must be a very dainty and docile lamb. My sheep would have had that cot upside and wearing it around their neck.

All beautiful!

Just love the look of black and white. So stark and deep!

But I have to say, the top pic takes my heart! Did you know that just below a dog's big pad there is an indentation? If your thumb fits perfectly inside then you know that you both were meant to be soul mates!
(Don't worry....I've never seen it NOT fit......) ;)

Blessings for a wonderful day!

Great shots! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking over as fearless leader of this thing. I have loved Sunday Stills since the challenge began...think of how to find shots all week every week and take off on road trips if needed. I would miss it wildly.

I think the eyelash shot needs to go in the calendar for this year!!

What a lovely collection of shots. I love the first one, and I think you got the aperture right.
Thanks for taking over Sunday stills. If I get any great ideas I'll make sure to send them your way.

Black and white lends so much emotion into photos for me. I love Iris’s tired legs, and the last photo of sleepy Blossom.

You are ready to lead SS, Sara. Like the white fading to black, your coming into focus and Ed stepping back creates a new picture for the future and without either dynamic, would not be the same. I wish you all the best on this new endeavor.

These are all really great. The one with the eyelashes - wow - you'd swear you can pet her head through the monitor the hair on her head is so crisp.

Congrats on becoming the fearless leader of SS challenge. You'll do great and I know you'll come up with some really interesting challenges.

Aw, wonderful, sweet Blossom. You've captured her perfectly. :) And footpads. Is there a more perfect part of a dog or cat? I think not. Maybe the ears and the nose? :D
