On The Subject Of Names

Several years ago (!) when Baaxter was a baby, it took forever to come up with his name.  A name that suited him and suited us and he could wear (or we could wear out ;-) for years to come.  In the interim I called him Lamby Lamby, which is what I call all lambs.

Now, years later (!), if I'm trying to get his attention and he's not responding to Baaxter or Baby B, I quietly say Lamby Lamby and he immediately turns his head.  This has also been confusing for him with subsequent bottle lambs who I inevitably call Lamby Lamby in front of him.  Poor Baby B...

I should never be put in charge of names (Saint Tim comes up with all the good ones ;-).  While Big Moose is a name he can wear (and we can wear out...and already are :-o), Mini Moose...poor Mini Moose...  I think he's already learned Mini Moose and I'm not sure we could change it even if we came up with something perfect.  Poor Mini Moose...

He does seem to recognize the name Cute Lamby...but that might be confusing with subsequent lambs... ;-)

Two new puzzles :-).

Enjoy!

I think you pick out good names. So I'll leave you to it. I'm not good at it...just ask my kids!

That is very funny. It is like the dogs who all answer to "Cookie"

With each large animal rescue, our Humane Society chooses a theme for the names. When my horse had been rescued as a yearling, the theme was "Winnie the Pooh." Her given name was......Piglet. She was two when I adopted her and immediately changed her name to Caoilainn. She learned to recognize her new name, but forever tried to remain true to her original calling. That girl loved her food, especially cookies!!

Understand your process. For my dairy goats the process is pretty much the same. Some times it comes quickly sometimes not so much. Just have to sit and watch for a sign from the kid.

A dear friend whom I have secured two of my Pyrenees from calls her litters “Puppy” or “Puppies” dependent on the number in the area whose attention she wants to get. I can tell you that as a 13 year old Spinner still responded with enthusiasm when she heard me call “puppy, puppy” at the barn gate.

Seems like only a short while ago Baaxter was a lamby lamby. Baby B !

If you say “Mini-moose” fast, it sounds like one word. Not bad. I bet he also answers to Cookie.

Oh oh...We are calling our little girls Lamby Lamby. Mind you they are incredibly disobedient lambs and their poor Mom.....Katadin (because she is a Katadin....not very original) bleats at them loudly and is getting an ulcer from stress. I think she has a less cute name for the pair😂😂😂

I remember Baby Baaxter.....❤️❤️❤️
