Ducks On The Pond

Even though it was in the 60's and sunny today, I'm going to keep posting snow pictures. I don't want to forget what happened walking out by the ponds the other day.

Tilly is following a trail, maybe fox? I haven't seen our resident foxes in a long time, but maybe they are still back there, flying under the radar? And as we crested the pond dam and peered through the weeds...

Ducks!

We've not seen ducks here the whole time we've lived on this farm. Geese, yes. Ducks, no. I'd heard them quacking around and spooked a big bunch out walking a week or so ago. Maybe these four are going to stay awhile?

Or not. We tried to be "vewy vewy quiet", but they saw us.

"And stood there amazed."

What a wonderland you captured! Those ducks are too cool with their orange feet dangling in mid-air. I hope they stay to become part of the farm family :-)

Your photographs are incredible! The duck ones, as well as the sheep shots from yesterday, look like black and white photos that have been retouched with a bit of color.

Absolutely stunning.

I agree. Great shooting.

The trail Tillie is following looks like something kinda bobbed up and down thru the snow. Tillie however is going at it like a snow plow making a nice easy trail for you to follow. Once again great snow shots.

Love your pictures.
I'm thinking Tilly follow the path for ease of movement! She looks swamped by the snow!

*Love* the duck photos - you really caught the action! We used to have them - I miss watching them, but don't miss having to worry every time someone's dog passes through.

Our pond gets ducks (but never geese). All the neighbors get geese (but not ducks). Go figure.

You really got some great photos of the ducks! I love these. There's so much movement in them!

Nice shots of the Mallards, I hope they stay. e have plenty of geese and ducks here, as we are near the headwaters of Kootenay Lake, and it has a marshy area that feeds into, appropriately enough, Duck Lake.
