Oh What A Beautiful Morning

Walking up to the barn this morning. That dead tree is there for a purpose by the way. Aria loves to scratch on it.

Waiting for the ferry in Augusta.

No river in sight. The water was so still that as we were crossing, you could not feel the ferry rocking/moving and you couldn't see anything but fog. It was like we weren't even moving until we got close to the other shore.

I'm telling you - I hit a winning lotto ticket and I'm going to be the one standing there opening the the gate. Love it.

So, if I'm crossing the Ohio River on the Ole Augusta Ferry, I must be headed to Ohio Valley Natural Fibers. I needed to run Bluebell's wool and had a few left from spring and a couple I'd picked up from/for friends. Perfect excuse ;-).

Here she is, headed for the drums.

The end result. I wonder if Bluebell's ever even had her wool spun before? It's really nice. Super soft. Spinning it will be leg one of my Tour de Fleece. I'm having a ton of fun planning my tour. I think she will be for Team Footloose (the Hansen miniSpinner group)...but nothing's finalized yet ;-).

All the bags lined up ready to head down the road...and back across the ferry.

I love ferries too, and I enjoyed the link. As far as the "drums" go, Holy Cow! That machine is immense! I had no idea.

You are going to be BUSY! I love fog. We've had a lot of it here - those hot rainy days followed by cold fronts. Lovely. Almost as lovely as Bluebell's fleece.

I have never been on a ferry - in KY or anywhere else. After this post, it's going on the bucket list!

Beautiful capture of the morning sunbeams, Sara, with the sun energizing the earth below.
Also it looks like there might have been a rainbow of pink and yellow-green trying to peek it's way through the heavy fog. What a quiet peaceful way to begin the day.
Love the way Bluebelles fleece turned out. What a great rescue!

Mornings are the best time of the day! I wish I could appreciate the Ohio River more but since I am at the other end of Ohio, I get the Lake! Love all of your photos....now were all of those bags yours?!?!

Yes, they all came home with me - well, the ones on the floor, not all the colored bags. A couple of the fleeces were from friend's flocks, one was Bluebell. The rest were the end of my spring shearing. The loft is FULL :-o.

You are always teaching me something about sheep and their wool....

Great post. Love the fog pics. That video - yikes - I think I wouldn't wear such a loose T shirt right next to those open belts..... just sayin'.
Can't wait to see Bluebell's spun yarn! Lucky winner!

We were going to cross that ferry that day we came to visit you. I could stand there for hours watching it. I'm going to have to take a trip to "that fiber place" too. hehehehe
