Poor lil' Lila.
"What do you mean I'm a sheep???"
"I was born a [Border Collie]! I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family..." **
"Wait. We didn't have one of these on the porch."
Good ole' Miss Ewenice, looking on.
Renny tried to be nice (only because when she wasn't, I'd throw a Croc at her ;-).
But in the end was just a big butt. A really big butt. But with not a scar to be seen :-).
I set my cot up in this makeshift stall (the little lamb pen shed was just too hot) and spent much of the first day up there, making sure Lila wasn't too stressed...or punched on. Sometimes things went along just fine, but I'm not sure if it was the heat or being jealous of having to share Ewenice, but Renny got voted off the island around midnight the first night.
Not only for being snarky to Lila, but YOU'RE BLOCKING ALL THE AIR FROM THE FAN, RENNY!!!
Miss Ewenice wasn't super jazzed about being put back into work, but really, there's no one better. When I explained to her that she was obviously irreplaceable, she sighed a couple times and buckled down. And took a nap.
They did make it outside a couple times. Renny and Ewenice would head out to graze. I would try to stay in the shade (still 90 degrees). Lila would just want to stay with me (sleeping by my cot - sniffle sniffle) so I'd have to go out and "graze" so she'd learn that's what sheep do.
I could see the pool. It was a rough, hot afternoon.
But the bees were out working the clover. Which seems like a no brainer except for the fact that a bunch of us have been watching the clover and never seen a bee and were starting to wonder...
I've been blown away by the response to the Wolf Run Animal Sanctuary fundraiser. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Updated: If someone local wins and wants to learn how to spin Bluebell's wool themselves, I'd be happy to teach you.
Spread the word!

"But I was born a Border Collie....." sounds like a great premise for a movie. Oh! Wait! They already made that one. (but Lila is much cuter than a stupid ol' pig....
Lila gets Life Lessons, chapter one?
Being able to see the pool and not get to it must have been torture!!
I'm glad Lila is learning her identity. lol.
Ouch! Tough love....this has got to be hard on everyone!
I just keep thinking 'the things we do for love and Lila.' :-)
I hope you've been able to cool off and are enjoying your weekend!!
Was it Steve Martin in The Jerk? "I wuz born a poor black child." Poor Lila, it must be so hard to find out you're not who you thought you were! You're a good mom to help ease her through the transition.
So the weaning begins.... It's so hot hot hot down there!
Are you sure she has to act like a sheep? She really might be part guard dog and part kitty. She looks so young to be out in the barn with the big kids. Lila is truly a momma's girl.
This blog has a great humor that tugs at the heartstrings :-)
She will get the hang of it, she is one smart sheep..:-)
My Gosh...Renny looks like she is going to have a lovely fleece with spots. What breed is she? Looks like a totally different animal than when we first met her (thank goodness) :-)
Lila is such a cutie-pie. I'm sure she'll do just fine with her lambkin friends. Being a beekeeper, I'm so glad you saw some bees. Otherwise you might have to get a hive or two ;-)
It has been hot here too, but today, it's PERFECT outside. The most beautiful weather day we've had all year.
Cindy Bee
is "Super 8" the movie with that buzz phrase or am I just late getting the news?
The Jerk. Is that the movie?
Sheepmom: lol! I love that movie. We have a hoard of bumbles living in our pole barn. They fly across the driveway to the rose acacia, back and forth, back and forth. It sounds like a bumblebee Mexican fiesta out there. We're running a little crack house for them because we really need to cut back A LOT of that rose acacia.
That's a whole lotta sheep love going on down there. And what at time to cut the apron strings -- maybe you and Lila (and Miss Ewenice and Remmy) should put your water wings on and show the world that sheep swim!
Never thought I'd be so happy to see a sheepy butt!!!! :o)
Lila will make friends in not time, just like Renny. Maybe they'll even become BFFs. Good to see her sheepucation has begun.
Renny! Has to learn to share silly girl. That is what living in sheep heaven is all about sharing and loving and giving.
She is looking really good. I have a special little spot in my heart for that sturdy little girl.
