Good Morning!

Baaxter was the first lamb who Had To Go Out first thing in the morning.  He was always so rowdy that I was just happy he had something to do while I tried to drink coffee and catch up with him each morning. Liddy was much easier.  She'd graze for a bit and then come over and snuggle up for a long nap.

Bullwinkle likes to eat.  He wants to get up early and get out there.  I've got him staying (pretty) quiet until 6:00 and then we get up.  And go eat.  He'll check in with me for a couple seconds, but goes back to eating.  He'll check in again and then back out to eat.  The third time he comes over, he'll lay down and take a nap.  With a full tummy :-).

All the cats come out with us.  And Kate.  Tilly hangs out on the porch until she thinks there might be some food involved.  She's not an early riser.  It's light even though the sun hasn't crested the trees.

It's really not darker now that the sun is coming up.  I metered my light for the sunrise, which darkened everything else up.  The sheep and grass actually look more like the next picture...but the sun is blown out.  It's all give and take.  Which do you like best?

And a purple martin coming in, for kbdoolin :-D.  This is the second year for the martin house.  We had one pair that settled in and raised (I think) three babies.  I believe they are raising a second clutch.  I'm hoping we'll have even more living here next year.

Lavender And Bees

Well, I've just wasted 20 minutes trying to sign into my youtube account to post a short video from this evening, but for some reason I can't get in and now it's really late and I'm so tired I can't think of what I would normally write about the lavender and the bees and the big job it was, once again, to get everything cleaned back up, but boy it sure looks nice now, so I hope you enjoy just the pictures...

Betsy & Bullwinkle, sharing a hay bed.  As always around here, more bed than breakfast ;-).

Yes, Bullwinkle's still on the porch.  I'm having trouble talking myself into booting him out to the barn.  He's really no trouble and I enjoy eating breakfast with him on the front steps.  The sunrises here are beautiful and it's nice to sit out in the heavy dew and be a part of the sun breaking over the front field rather than just watching from the kitchen.  

I know I could still go out and eat on the steps even if he moves to the barn...but it would be a little lonelier.  Except for Comby and Eli and Tilly and Kate and anyone else who wants to "wash" my cereal bowl ;-).

Proper Use Of A Skein Winder

"This top part is for scratching your eyes."

"And your cheeks."

"This part moves to adjust for different size sheep...but I can't figure out how to move it."

"Oh, here, this knob is how you do that."

"What?  I was just supposed to be looking at your yarn?  Here, let me try to fake some interest."

"Moving right along, the arms are for scratching your back."

"Ah, yes, that's the spot."

"If you put some yarn on, you can scratch your butt."

"It is, TOO, for scratching your butt!"

"This stupid yarn keeps getting in the way."

"I guess it is kinda pretty."

"But I've sure never seen a sheep that color before!"

Telling Secrets

Bullwinkle is a good lambie.  I was working on the porch yesterday and he just tootled around the yard, eating grass, staying out of trouble.  This is not always the case.  Liddy was a good lamb. Baaxter was a bad lamb.  Maisie...very bad lamb ;-D.  

I love how Kate always sits with the yard sheep. 

"Hey, Bullwinkle, want to hear a secret?"  "Okay." "Spspsppssspspspppspsps."

"What are you all talking about over there?!"

"Nothing, Miss Kate."

Wonder what they're up to...  It's a good thing they are all good lambies :-).
