"Why do we have this new pen? What's a Hug a Sheep party?
We had an impromptu neighborhood party this afternoon. Auntie Monica let me know she was bringing her usual bag(s) of treats for everyone, along with her mom, so I decided to set up a practice Hug a Sheep party. Like preseason football!
"OH! A cookie party!"
Biscuit: "Hey, where are you going?" Muffin: "I think she's getting some of those nasty apples out."
"Um, ladies? Isn't this supposed to be a hug a SHEEP party?"
"Hey, new cookie lady? Can you help me? That other lady is trying to make me eat apples."
I wish this picture more clearly showed Muffin's disgust about switching from cookies to apples, even after watching Biscuit and Mrs. Pepperpot gobble them up for weeks now. She actually makes a face just like a little kid being forced to eat broccoli. No health food for her! It's sugar all the way.
Mrs. Pepperpot LOVES apples.
And parties!
I wasn't sure what she'd think about all the attention and commotion. Well, she thought it was great fun :-).
Luckily someone had the good sense to save some extra cookies for Muffin.
And now she has a new friend for life! Biscuit was the first to bug out when the cookies ran out. Muffin stayed to visit for a good while. She really is very sweet. I guess it's all the cookies ;-).

We are once again hosting a Hug a Sheep Day farm party this year. National Hug a Sheep Day is October 28th. Our farm will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 that afternoon and it looks like Biscuit, Muffin and Mrs. Pepperpot are ready!

Hey Sara, October 28th is Scout's birthday, and he will be fifteen! Too bad he can't be at your party, although actually he hates hugs. Kate looks really great!!! And your sheep do too!!
It looks like all the participants had a very good time. Funny Muffin not to like apples.
October 28 is my birthday and I wish I could spend it at Equinox hugging all your sheep.
Sheep are such individuals! My llama and my wether, Linden, LOVE apples. Norman can't stand them. BUT he likes apple peels - especially if they are long and thin and curly. Go figure. Muffin is such a sweetie.
I loved the looks on everyone's faces!
Now that was one special Hug a Sheep pre-party for some very special neighbors. The ladies were able to avoid the crowding and have a special time with the special lambs.
Sara you are so kind to everyone and thoughtful.
It's so lovely see Mrs Perrpperpot look so bright and happy after her being so doddery when she arrived!
I love this. The combination of pictures and text is hilarious. I live in a city and know almost nothing about sheep, but find them fascinating. I had no idea there are so many variations in their fleece (and apparently in their personalities too!). I'm so glad I found your blog, Sara. It's one of the first things I read every morning, and I'm also slowly (and happily) making my way through all your previous posts.

Wow! Lots of birthdays on the 28th :-D. Punkin's was the 30th. He'd have been 25 this year I think :-o. I love when the 30th is the last Saturday of October.
Thanks for all the sweet comments :-).
Mrs. P is looking great! Retirement suits her! And the lambs are growing so well. Fun training day for HAS day!
What fun!
Thank you for the reminder that I still need to get a picture for Hug a Sheep Day! These three are so precious. <3
