There WILL be knitting today. Half (not quite) finished hat removed from bag for photo only. That's ridiculous.
Here's a funny/odd story. We've been under the impression that our sheep go to the barn at night and stay there. Graham likes to wander out around the corner sometimes and B. Willard frequently has to be coaxed into the barn lot at dark, but once they are in for the night though, I believed they were in for the night. I've made many late night checks and they are always asleep in the barn.
Last night I woke in the middle of the night to ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling-a-linga... I thought I was imagining it. Our sheep sleep all night in the barn, remember? Ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling-a-linga... I got up and walked out the door. At least two distinct bells out grazing in the dark. Graham? Yeah, I could see that. Petunia and Rebecca Boone (the other bell wearers)??? Never.
Now I'm wondering if they all have a secret life. Does someone stand guard and watch for our lights to turn out and then wait just a little longer until the coast is surely clear and then all go back out??? What else are they up to?!?

The hat looks great!!! I know our alpacas all sleep out in the fields at night. The boys use the barns to poop in. Dirty stinky boys. They only use the barns for the fans when it is hot. I can only imagine the trouble those sheep are getting into at night.
It just is nice to eat outside on a lovely summer evening.

When I first started working evenings/nights about 8 years ago, I was amazed at all the things that go on in the wee hours. Trust me you'd be surprised. When I try to tell friends and neighbors what their critters are up to at 3am (especially their sweet little pussy-cats), they don't believe me. You might want to try some nocturnal ramblings sometime, it is interesting. Then again, ignorance is bliss:)
Oh, I'll bet they have quite a nightlife~ I thought I saw some poker chips in our hay manger one night but when I turned back around they were gone... *grin*
Love the bell idea.. I'm thinking of getting a couple myself! (Not for me, of course..*ha*)
Too funny!
The secret lives of sheep - it sounds like a soap opera! Is that a circle of sheepies I see emerging at the top of that lovely hat?
Everyone is getting out of the barn to get away from the ding a ling ling. :-0
I would be concered if you start hearing them sing "I love the nightlife, I love to boogie".
Love the hat, can't wait to see if finished.
I agree with Reg. Its the Young and the Restless on the Equinox Farm . Poor Hank ;-)
How funny! I wonder if Hank is aiding and abetting by playing lookout.
I think a critter camera is in order!
I second the critter cam.
Isn't it too hot down there to knit? Perhaps Elizabeth is the only one that stay in all night long..you may have party sheep:)
Just had an image of your sheep running around the fields, jumping over fences as we all count our sheep to go to sleep :)
Yeah, because they're, um, really helpful like that... ;-)
"Hey, the lights are out. Party time!!!"
Too funny.
I woke at 3am the other night to the thunder of tiny hoofs. The lambs were having races past my bedroom window ! I thought they'd have been tucked up tight :-)
Funny! My sheep have always grazed in the middle of the night. When I realized this, I felt bad for sheep who's owners locked them up in the barn all night. No midnight snacks for them :-(.
Love the hat. That's the one I want to make too but who knows if I'll ever do it?
I've always thought that mine went "out on the town" at night. I just don't know what they do. It's a little scary to think about!
I l.o.v.e. the hat. Great job. The color scheme is perfect. (your welcome, : ) ). C'mon, with parents like you and St. Tim, you knew the party was on at night!
Just like teenagers, ya just never know! (Beautiful hat)
you know how you only find one wool sock thats missing its match when it comes out of the washer?
yep. thats them.
You know how you swear that you left your keys hanging up/on the counter/in the basket but now you cant find them?
Yep. them again.
you know when you swear that there was more snacks left in the bag when you first opened it because you were saving it for later?
oh yea..thats them alright...
and lets not forget the bottles in the frig...
sheep. bad to the bone. (and you wonder why your sunglasses are missing and why the knob to the radio in the barn is always on full blast when you first turn it on...)
