A couple years ago I somehow found a neat sheep ranching blog - from out west. Or maybe she found me - regarding Hug a Sheep Day. I don't always remember how everyone finds everyone, we just treasure the finds we all make, eh? :-)
Tucked away in the bottom of her Furry Friends/Meet the Characters page is the most beautiful sheep movie I've ever seen. Like make you cry it's so beautiful. Her husband made it. Here, go watch it and then come back for the rest of the story.
So, with Hug a Sheep Day just around the corner I thought I should check in with her...and found this amazing story.
Now that's a sheep I'd love to hug!

What an incredible and very strange story, was she just ready to go home, or being sick, was she taking herself down off the mountain to the home paddocks.. and how about walking through town..wow.. that is a very cool story and after the hard summer you have had i bet you enjoyed reading about her too.. thank you for making sure I saw it! celi
It's amazing that she would choose to walk home by herself rather than stay with her flock. What was she thinking??? Soo far. Soo alone. An inspiring story we probably would not have known about but for you! Thanks for sharing.
I've seen this video several times and it brings tears every time. I love the lambs playing in the dust bowl, and all the sheep waaay up on the top of that mountain so close to where it drops off makes me nervous!!! God bless the sweet ewe who hoofed it home. Nobody likes to get stuck in gridlock.

I would say that Mama had some special angels watching out for her safety. So glad there is a happy ending to this story ;-)
i enjoyed this MUCH! thanks for sharing; sheep are very SMART, and even if they are vulnerable, they know the way HOME. It's the humans - well, enough said.
Wonderful video..loved the sounds of the sheep. That Ewe getting home is a great story..I am sure someone should make it into a children's storybook:)
