I'll Scratch Your Back...

T-Bone and Gato...and a couple bird friends.

"Ai! You birds quit pooping all over the fences!"

"Gato! Keep your fat butt off there!"

Sigh.

"It's a good thing the fence guy stopped by last week."

Really, at the time (and all the other times) I just stood there and watched the boys scratching on each other and really enjoyed it without noticing all the disarray.

Kind of like that.

They really are such beautiful creatures aren't they?

It's rather mesmerizing, isn't it? Do you think it's the salt in their sweat? I find that watching horses has an hypnotic effect...

The grooming looks more affectionate than a taste treat and I think it is rather endearing to watch on the video.

There is a product called "Itchin' Post" which is designed to provide a surface for animals to rub themselves on without damaging themselves or property. The name is clever at any rate. ;-)

I think it's more a communication method to get the other horse to scratch a spot they can't reach themselves.

its fun to watch them do that. THe other day I was scratching my colts flanks and he decided to reachh around and return the favor. Sweet gesture, but I wasn't wanting his kind of "grooming."
The macro's in the previous post are really nice!
