To "celebrate" the spring equinox today, I'm not going to rehash the previous laundry lists of reasons why I hate spring. I'm going to share a new one!
I always end up with one crazed robin who spends much of the early spring "fighting" with his reflection in my car mirrors and windows. I'll spare you the picture of what my car looks like with this going on.
Happy Spring ;-).
This better not be one of the babies from The Great Robin Rescue last summer!

I’m guessing you don’t find this amusing? Happy Spring anyway😊
I could do without the bird poop ;-D.
Do you suppose tiing a rag over the mirror would put a stop to the aggression?
I'm going to try this as the birds use the mirrors on my car for a perches. Ick. Sandy in California
Years ago there was a Mockingbird with a nest somewhere near the parking lot at work. I had a new car so I parked away from everyone else, unawares of said nest. EVERYDAY I'd come out to spitty mirrors and bird crap all down the doors. I was able to move just a few spaces down and that was far enough for Mr. Mockingbird. If you can't park somewhere else, rubber band a plastic grocery bag over the side mirrors. :D
Seems I remember that story from last year!!
I've used grocery store bags and they help with the mirror, but not the windows. Tim got some my some mirror covers, but at this point the car needs to be washed to "start clean". Sigh...
After over 30 years of parking on the driveway parking pad beside trees that have had numerous cardinals and robins nest without incident; last year I had an over-zealous male robin who assaulted my new car (white) multiple times a day. I moved to a different parking place, but it wasn't far enough away. He would even assault the car at lunch time. One day I had wing marks all over the wind shield where he beat himself up there. He never got a mate. I did see one female in the driveway with him once ... but apparently he was too hyper/stalker/abusive. I never saw her again.
He vanished for a while, came back again for the 2nd round of nesting , but departed quicker. No female robins were interested (word got around?)
So far no sign of him this year.
The local car wash got a lot of business from me when I wasn't do a quick wipe down.

One hope is that if the nest is productive, he will be too busy being a responsible parent to be over-macho, wasting energy on the car.
They do the same thing to my neighbors car it is the same color as yours:) Good of you to save the bird that poops on your car:)
We mostly have killer cardinals and buzzards. Cover your car mirrors with washcloths and rubber bands
happy spring and hopefully you're not getting too much snow!
Happy Spring? We're waiting for our weekly nor'easter here and I have yet to see any robins.
You need a total car cover.
This made me smile!
I love your daily updates. Also surprised to see that you are a Packer's fan. All the way south in Kentucky.
Car washed and bags over mirrors. We'll see...
Go Packers :-D. Except I'm a little sore about Jordy :-(.
We had cardinals that beat themselves against the house windows when I was a kid. Even having the inside cats throw themselves against the window inside didn't really put them off. Seems counterproductive from an evolutionary point of view. You'll have to knit a mirror cozy! Like a golf club cover!
