I thought I was going to get skunked for this week's challenge, but as I drove home from another fun day at "Lamb Camp" I saw this old house being burned. It was a huge house and I'm disappointed the size doesn't shine through. It was at least two full stories with a tall chimney on top.

What a great shot! I don't know why, but somehow those three stars just really make it.
I agree. But why the heck was the house burning?
To remove it? or was it an accidental fire?
Hot for sure! Great catch.
I like those stars too. They seem to speak of the permanence of the universe while paying witness to humanities impermanence.
I tried to remember what I'd seen as I'd driven past in the daylight, but other than the trees being pushed up in a huge pile, I don't remember if the old house was still standing or if it was already gone. Think if they'd already removed the house the chimney would be gone too, so guessing they burned everything. Sad to lose those grand old homes :-/.
The stars were very bright, as was the moon. I tried to see if there was a way to include the moon in the shot, but I'd have had to trespass and felt I should stay out on the road ;-).
We LOVE watching - This Old House on TV and I just hope that they salvaged everything useable out of the old home place. we had to burn down my Grandmothers old two story home. It was beyond repair and kids were getting in and doing what teens shouldn't do behind closed doors. My Dad and his sister donated the house to the local fire department to use for practice. Such a sad day!
A most dynamic photo of contrasts for "hot"...... destructive fire here on earth and the peaceful stars in the heavens lighting the way. Impressive capture on many levels. No moon needed.
Very interesting shot! Sad for the old house though.
Now thats a fantastic shot!!! The chimney makes it pure perfection..:-))
What a lucky shot! :)
Great shot :))
A lovely composition, Sara; the contrast of intense light from the center flames to the cool distant stars is stunning. And the sight of this struck very close to the tragedies that hit our neighbors north of here in Texas. Personally, it is the chimney that tells this story for me, it holds the memories. I hope the bricks are salvaged and recycled into standing strong again.
