Six Years Ago Today...

...I published my first blog post.  I thought it might be something good to help market our sheep and wool products and not much more than that.

Oh was I wrong.

I had no idea how much fun it would be, all the wonderful people I'd meet and get to know, how awesome it would be to have an online photo diary of our farm life, how much I'd learn about writing, photography, sheep, spinning, knitting, weaving, myself...

I knew today was the anniversary day, but didn't really think that much about it.  Seven is the big anniversary (you know, the WOOL one ;-).  However, as I was driving over in the snow this morning to pick up Maisie's goat milk and planning on taking some photos of her guardian angels I remembered that six years ago today I was standing out in the snow taking the very first blog pictures of my guardian angels.  And that made me smile :-).

These two original pictures remain among my favorites. That's Peabody and Popcorn Pee Pee Pants in the top photo and Elizabeth, Joshua, Crazy Esther, Allie, Jester, Peabody and PPPP in the bottom.  They were taken with a tiny point and shoot camera and if you'd have told me that one day I'd be packing a "big girl camera", I'd have looked at you like you were crazy.  Ain't life full of surprises.  And grand :-).

I have just discovered your blog and am so enjoying the Maisie chronicles. I am friends with two couples who are sheep farmers, so I am aware of the less than romantic aspects of the business, but your pictures are so evocative of your world. I have just started the first self-conscious efforts at blogging myself, so am looking forward to finding a voice and being able to draw the reader in as you do.

It's been 6 already. I feel like I'm cheating when I read the blog to keep up with the family, as opposed to just picking up the phone and calling . . . Happy Day!

I can't tell you how much joy you bring, I'm sure to so many of us, but specifically to me. Each day I look forward to what you all are doing, Life at the farm with all your wonderful friends. I have a deep love for sheep, and you help feed my soul. Those first two photos are like old French paintings. Thanks so much for taking the time to journal you days, many blessings, your Missouri neighbor, Debra

Beautiful pictures, Sara! It would be wonderful to be able to buy the first one as a print in different sizes. Or even a poster.

Happy anniversary! Feb 02 is a special day for many of us!:-)

You are one of the reasons I love blogging so much. And to have the pleasure of meeting you and Saint Tim in person was the best! You have brought so much to so many with your beautiful photography and all those special stories about your critters. You are indeed a very special person.
Big hugs from the Skoogies!

Happy Anniversary, and on Ground Hog's Day, that makes it easy to remember. So glad I found you. I thought when today's blog came up that the first picture was actually a print off a Christmas Card. Keep up the fun stories, your creative calendars, and let's not forget Hug a Sheep Day. Would love to come hang out for a day but your on the opposite side of the country from me. Take care, keep on blogging and I hope someday some angora goats show up on Punkin's Patch.

Happy Anniversary! I bet that six years ago you never could have imagined what you'd be doing right now! Ain't life grand? (mostly). You really are an inspiration - your artistic talent, the photography, the steady pace of blog posts (amazing!), the care you take of your animals, your willingness to share your daily life with anybody that happens by your blog....we are so lucky to have you! Thanks! Here's to six time six more blogiversaries!

Way to go..six year!! That is an accomplishment! I am a little behind..I am beginning my sixth year. I so understand what a journey it can be..I had a little point and shoot back then too..and hardly ever took photos.."Big girl camera" Yes never thought I would have one of those either.
I hope you keep right on blogging sharing your life with your wonderful animals..it has been so fun to read about your life.
carry on..and pat Maisie for me:)

You've reminded me that I wrote my first blog post five years ago on Jan. 30. Amazing.
