Six Years Ago Today...

...I published my first blog post.  I thought it might be something good to help market our sheep and wool products and not much more than that.

Oh was I wrong.

I had no idea how much fun it would be, all the wonderful people I'd meet and get to know, how awesome it would be to have an online photo diary of our farm life, how much I'd learn about writing, photography, sheep, spinning, knitting, weaving, myself...

I knew today was the anniversary day, but didn't really think that much about it.  Seven is the big anniversary (you know, the WOOL one ;-).  However, as I was driving over in the snow this morning to pick up Maisie's goat milk and planning on taking some photos of her guardian angels I remembered that six years ago today I was standing out in the snow taking the very first blog pictures of my guardian angels.  And that made me smile :-).

These two original pictures remain among my favorites. That's Peabody and Popcorn Pee Pee Pants in the top photo and Elizabeth, Joshua, Crazy Esther, Allie, Jester, Peabody and PPPP in the bottom.  They were taken with a tiny point and shoot camera and if you'd have told me that one day I'd be packing a "big girl camera", I'd have looked at you like you were crazy.  Ain't life full of surprises.  And grand :-).

  6. I have just discovered your blog and am so enjoying the Maisie chronicles. I am friends with two couples who are sheep farmers, so I am aware of the less than romantic aspects of the business, but your pictures are so evocative of your world. I have just started the first self-conscious efforts at blogging myself, so am looking forward to finding a voice and being able to draw the reader in as you do.
