Running With A Questionable Crowd

As I walked out to the barn to put everyone up last night I found our little girl out with "the boys". Even though Mia is also always with them, the group started as Keebler, Graham and Hank and will probably forever be known as "the boys".

I caught them all out together again this morning so I grabbed the camera and yelled "cookies".

I dropped the file sizes way down on these since I included so many pictures, but I'm hoping you can click to biggify and see cocky Renny throwing her head up, getting ready to do the crazy sheep run thing.

Okay, now go back to the top picture and make notes of where everyone started. That's Keebler in the forefront, with B. Willard several lengths behind. Those boys are speedy (and they didn't stop to jump around and be goofy ;-).

Here you can see Renny (the black dot near the back) starting to make her move. The rest of the flock is just running from behind the arena because everyone else is running. They don't come when called.

Renny takes the long route around the tree. Ford (on the right) is putting some pressure on B. Willard.

And she's gaining ground, passing Blizzard.

Who can't help but do some more crazy sheep running. Look at Renny's tail up over her back.

Sherman coming from the back of the pack, making a big move. Renny steps her game up a notch. Look how fast she's running.

Blizzard waits too long to kick and realizes he's getting beat by a girl.

And Sherman celebrates with some more crazy sheep jumping.

Win: Keebler
Place: B. Willard
Show: Sherman

But the real winner is of course Renny. And if you don't believe it, just ask her!

Wow! Who'd a thought a little girl with such horrible injuries could run like that. She is one impressive feat after another. She is the little sheep that could!

Renny is going to be the Secretariat of sheep. What a fun feat to watch! You could almost make a flip book out of those pictures. 'nilla wafers are such a great motivator.... who knew? ;-)

Dr. Cleveland and Louann had to come out this afternoon to doctor on Ewen (he doesn't want to talk about it ;-). I left everyone out back (normally you'd want to have your sheep up before the vet gets there - to be courteous) so Louann could watch Renny run in again. You'd never know there had ever been ANYTHING wrong with her. Just amazing.

Watching bounding sheep is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.

I love the serious speed they are putting on - not trotting, not wandering, not drifting - these guys are dead set on GETTING THE COOKIES.
Love it, and love to see Renny a) knowing what cookies are for and b)
RUNNING to get them. Who would have thought?

How joyful to see Renny actually running for her cookie! A miracle indeed! It just goes to show you can never guess an outcome when there's love and healing involved.

Actually, she is running for ewe nuggets - big pellets about half the size of your thumb. She is still convinced that vanilla wafers are "bad news", but she does watch closely as everyone else fights over them. One day maybe :-).

Looks as though your sheep knows their shepherds voice. Great pics!

Did you ever think Renny would be able to do this? I'm very impressed.

I can almost hear James Brown's "I feel good" playing in the background. Talk about the pure joy of being alive!
Great pictures, great post, great day. Renny's a wonder.

Fantastic sheep shots. I do believe sheep races are much more exciting than horse racing!!

Full gallop! I adore that, their legs aren't even touching the ground! I am off this week to wrestle up some ewes that were left out here west of town. I will bring some cookies and see if that helps! :o)
