I'd say I've been sick as a dog, but luckily our dogs are all doing okay.
Hank likes to make a quick lap around the yard every morning while I feed the sheep. Apparently there are two types of livestock guardian dogs - dogs that want to strictly guard the livestock and those that guard the entire property, which includes the livestock. Hank is a farm guardian dog.
The other morning I let him dart through the gate, but, because I've felt so lousy, didn't hang out long enough for him to check all the smells around the yard, mark over anything he didn't approve of and return. I headed back to the house early. An hour or so later I remembered.
While I don't often forget about Hank, it sometimes happens that I need to run a quick errand (or want another cup of coffee ;-). He takes care of business and then checks to see which gate is closest to his sheep and he lays there and waits for me to come back. While not an ideal situation protection-wise, it's the best he can do with his human handicap. You are a good dog, Hank.
"IRIS!!! I am sick, not dead and you have not missed a single meal! Get out of that cat food!!!"

Good dog, Hank. Good dog.
Glad you're feeling a wee bit better. Better enough to post anyway.
Hank displays such dignity in his posture. I love him!
Ahhh, scavenger dogs! We feed a lot of cat food to various dogs - ours and visiting neighbors!
Hank is the wonder dog! And then there are those dogs who know when the "boss" is in a weakened condition and seize the moment for mischief!
Check out those sheep staring you down, Sara. They are probably wondering if your brain has taken a winter break! Where's the hay? Why is the dog inside the barn and we are out here Freezing! What is wrong with this picture? Hank takes it all in stride. He knew what he was getting into when he took this job. He figures he's the smartest one on the farm.
Iris knows you can't catch enough breath to waste it hollering at her. What an opportunist!
Such a sweet pup! Sara, I can't believe you still feel crappy...what a winter!
Hank must be an amazing part of the family! ;Sorry you're under the weather - and yet there is so much you have to keep doing even when you don't feel well! Wish I could come help. Oh, wait, I just want to hunker down inside!!!

I just love Hank. I'm thinking about getting one like him. Hope you feel better.
What a good dog! No running off to see if there might be more interesting smells...just wait. He knows you will be back.

That last photo and caption was a hoot...you must be feelin' better~
Well good job Hank!
and Iris..well she is smart enough to add a little "fish" to her diet ala cat food..she has to keep fit you know. BTW she is looking nice and slim.
smooches Iris...you know where GA is don't you girl!
love, aunt debbie
Get well soon Sara. Hank is such a good dog!
Don't you just love how they love "their" sheep? When I go out to feed, Sable runs to the gate with such a happy, excited look on her face because she knows I'll let her in by 'her' sheep.
I'm sorry you're still feeling punky! I've not felt well the last week either. We need SUNSHINE and warmer (I'd be happy with 50s) weather! Are you getting any of the nasty storm that's ripping the Midwest?
Take good care of yourself...
Hope you are feeling better really, really soon! Your critters need you!
We missed all the bad stuff. Just an inch of rain and now 40-50 mile per hour gusts of wind. As much as I love snow, I HATE ice and the damage it does.
LOL! Mom has to put her cats food on a table to keep Maggie out of it, good work Hank. Get well soon, it sucks being sick..:-)
