Frankie Got A Pony For Christmas

Santa has been keeping an eye on Frankie all year and since he's been such a good boy, he gave him exactly what he's been wishing for, a friend.  Meet Lancelot :-).

Lancelot is a 19 year old Standardbred gelding we've adopted from New Vocation Racehorse Adoption Program, the same organization Frankie came from.  Lancelot raced until 2005 and then transitioned into a show horse for several years and is now semi-retired.  Frankie is completely smitten.

We got him home late yesterday afternoon and he stayed in the arena last night. I put Frankie in there with him after breakfast and then at noon I moved them both to the front field.  After being completely quiet in the arena, I wasn't expecting the show they put on when they hit the big field.

I'd say Lancelot is pretty happy, too :-).

"Are you really real?"

I'm pretty smitten as well :-).

If you'd like to spend a little more time with the two boys, there are two new puzzles :-).

He's wonderful!! He's the big brother Frankie wanted. Emphasis on BIG! I like how Frankie has to hunker down and pour in on a little to keep up with Lance. Merry Christmas!

I saw the post on Twitter about how tall Lancelot is and thought, "What!? That's a new horse...when did Sara get a new horse?" Then your latest blog post was in my inbox this morning. Welcome, Lancelot.

Another lucky animal gets a fabulous final home. You and Saint Tim are the best. If I ever win the blasted lotto I'll give you a chunk to help with the feed bills. Enjoy your excellent life for those of us who cant live in the country.

The reason why loneliness kills all living creatures----we all need a buddy! I love that they were just friends right away nothing aggressive at all really interesting. It is great to see too happy guys enjoying themselves. How nice to give Lancelot a great home for his later years!

Yay😍! I’m so glad Frankie has an equine chum. I know you are too.

Shades of brown and white; reminds me of your Biscuit and Muffin “heart”.

Such happy news! And one question -- what does semi-retired mean? Will you still show him? Or are you thinking about driving them both (or either) in competition? Curious minds...
