The chickens love Del Boca Vista, especially when it's raining. Jester is a good sport about it. Just realized I never shared that we put Ford down a few weeks ago. Sigh... Jester was pretty upset about it for awhile, but he's doing okay now. He's had to watch a lot of old friends go over the years. There are a lot of old friends...and some sad decisions coming up :-(.
Front row: Chocula, Burrnie, Levi Back row: Murphy and Spud
Chocula
Liddy and Murphy. I don't really think of Liddy as being super small, but I guess she is. Or maybe Murphy is just super big, which is also true.
In case child services comes after me, I had to pick up a new sheep arthritis prescription for Woolliam at the "people pharmacy" today. I had to sign off on my "relationship to the patient". Since there wasn't a check box for sheep/pet/animal...I checked off that he was my "child". They'd put it under Murphy's name I guess because he was the most recent animal on the ugly vet bill this month. He's fine now, but gave us all quite a scare.
Maisie: "I stay inside when it's raining."
Not sure why Hershey, of all sheep, felt like he needed hair extensions. Kids...

Wish I could drop in for coffee and a spinning session to hear all that you've been dealing with among the "children." Sounds like you have a full plate and a bruised heart. Hugs, my friend.
I have a vision of some clerk in whatever department regulates pharmacies in your state reviewing these records and contemplating a medication purchase for a child named Count Chocula, or Woolliam, or Not-Boone. And arthritis medication for a 7 year old child (or whatever Murphy's age is)? That could certainly be appropriate, of course, but would probably give one pause if it wasn't noticed that the prescriber is a veterinarian. If the patient named was one of your punnier ones, this could make a good "you won't believe what crossed my desk today" story for coffee break at the office ;-0
Sending Love to boost that decision making..
Aging furry, wooly friends are a constant concern. My sympathies for the loss of Ford. I hope all the others requiring meds are doing better now.
The chickens are very clever to shelter with Jester. We have warm fog and rain today.
Your sheep pose so nicely for the photos.
I love reading your stories.
Your sheep are beautiful! I'm glad I came upon your blog. I don't get to experience sheep-life where I live and I love seeing your photos and reading your stories, thanks for sharing :)
I am so sorry about Ford. It is always so hard when we must help them go on without us.
Everyone who has animal "children" understands having to make hard decisions for them. I am so sorry for your loss. Burrnie is looking good. He is my second favorite sheep -- PPPP is #1 with me!
)))hugs(((
Burrnie cracks me up. The other night when I checked on everyone before I went to bed I found him standing up, chewing cud, eyes completely closed. I think he was eating in his sleep :-D.
Every animal takes a tiny part of our heart with them, so sorry for your loss. Sometimes we have to laugh through the tears...
Love, Love, Love them all!
Okay this is the third blog in a row I've been on this morning where I read about someone passing. :(
Sorry to hear about Ford and any upcoming tough decisions you may have to make. I have one of those coming up too. Sigh.
Aw, so sad when it comes time to let the old ones go. Our Ramona, the last sheep, is 10 this Spring. Still doing well so far. Our oldest one lived to 16
Chickens are good company, I find, but only outside since they are not really able to be housetrained! I'm sorry you have some hard decisions ahead.
Oh, I'm so sorry about Ford. I hate it that our furry/fleecy/fuzzy/hairy kids age faster than we do. And yes, I firmly believe that species doesn't define who is or isn't my child. Our ugly vet bills prove it too.
I hope all the other "non-hoomin" residents of Equinox Farm are doing ok and that your rough weather is over.
I am sorry about Ford, as they age you know difficult decisions are coming but it is never easy :(
