Betsy Has A Bad Day

Betsy came in yesterday morning covered in burrs.  Tiny little green sticky balls.  Thousands of little green sticky burrs.  Remember when Boo had a bad day?  Same burrs, but in fresh form.

She let me brush the "easy" ones from her back, sides and neck, but when I got to her legs and (oh my!) her belly, that was the end of that.  Her hair was so matted up I was sure that even if she'd let me, they were too thick and too glued together to get free.  We headed to the vet.

They took one look at her and did a collective "Ohhh BET-sy!".  Yeah.  They knocked her out and we all went to picking, brushing and scissoring and pretty soon we had her cleaned up and headed home.  She slept it off...and headed back out last night.

Cats.

Poor sweet baby. Frodo sometimes gets many (not lots) and I hold him in a neck brace and my husband goes at the burrs. If left alone the little stinker would try to bite us!!

You are always the good Mom. No wonder all your animals love you so much!

We have those "things" called sand spurs! My Ohio born husband didn't know what they were when we visited my Mom on Fla. and he took poor Augie out for a walk that wasn't mowed!! Too 3 adults an hour to pick them out of Augie's long poodle fur. Danny now knows to stay on the sidewalk when walking Augie in Fla.
