We had a nest in our tree above a bench I like to spend part of the day, it was fun to watch the mom hunt for her babies and bring back her bounty. Unfortunately, last weekend was spent trying to help all three babies out of our fenced in yard, as one ended up in our dog's mouth (it was not harmed miraculously). We end up with these presents every year to escort out of the yard. Its usually a race for us to find them before the dog does!
This post makes me think of a time when I was out in back, hanging up laundry, and my pre-schooler was inside, hollering....
"Mom!"
"What?"
"Mom!!!"
"What?"
"MOM!"
"What?"
"***MOM***!"
"WHAT?"
...
...
"Nothing."
Only, clearly, with the birdies, it's not nothing, it's something really really really important. Not that it was nothing for my kid, either, nevermind what she said. I think she forgot where I was........ :-)
What an excellent series of pictures! Momma birds work sooo hard. Here's hoping it stays hot enough to sap the cats' energy so they don't cause trouble. Now you'll have to keep us all posted on how the birds are doing as well as Baaxter!

You are a great photographer to have captured that so beautifully. And in this heat, that will be one tired Mom!

Oh, my, gosh! Sarah, those are the BEST bird pix I have ever seen! Of course, the commentary makes them extra-special too!! You are so talented!
Great photos! That has to be one tired moma! Looks like she found the coolest place for her nest.
How are you all holding up with the heat?
:-)
