Blossom spent her first night in the barn without me last night. It was so nice to get back in my big comfy bed in the air conditioning, but I have to admit missing (just a little) the jump on the bed, jump off the bed, jump back on the bed...walk up to stare at my face...
"Are you awake?"
"Can I have my baba now?"
"Mom? Are you awake???"
"I want my baba now."
Get. Down.
Boing...
Boing...
Boing...
Boing...
"Are you awake?"
To keep things fun, we pretended the super heat of the weekend was a roaring campfire. We roasted some Cheerios, had hotchocolate babas and read Blossom's favorite story, Borreguita and the Coyote.
"That sheep looks just like me!" she says with a big smile :-).
And she loves how the lamb keeps tricking the bad coyote.
"That's exactly what I would do!"
Blossom loves Hank. When it's hot and Mia and Blizzard tell her "Get lost, brat!" she happily goes under the utility trailer to take a nap with Hank on the cool gravel.
The other night we were all out in the front field and Hank heard some suspicious coyote noise out back. Without a moment's hesitation he took off, charging under the fence, racing out back, roaring...with fearless Blossom right behind.
Maybe we shouldn't have read that story so often ;-).
Thanks, Amy - it was a winner!

Oh she is going to be a character! I hope Hank figures out how to keep her in line!
I can just PICTURE Blossom tearing after Hank! My little ewes think they are so tough ~ they run toward the fence and stomp their dainty, little legs when one of the dogs dares to bark at them!
I have to say: I thought that the coyote in the book was a POSSUM at first!
;-)
So happy for you that Blossom has made the transition...
Oh too cute! I can only imagine how you'd miss the boing, boing, boing of her on your bed... I would too! ;)
Blossom will learn from Hank what those barks mean in short order. She has picked a good buddy to acclimatize her to farm life.
Glad to hear that both of you are making it through this transition....not easy for humans either is it?
Great book for Blossom about being clever, resourceful and independent.
Blossom should get a Graduation Certificate for having made the transition to sleeping in the barn like a real sheep.
Your lamb camp sounds like big fun. Hmmm.... if you took in paying guests it would go a long way to paying for the babas and cheerios.........
I'm so happy for blossom, and for you too even if I remember my first night alone was very lonely, and I woke up before the time to go and check my lamb! I suppose I'm not so strong and for sure I've not your experience!
Happy deams for Blossom

Well, well... Blossom wants to become a guard dog, eh? Somehow I don't think the coyotes are going to believe she will tear them apart if they approach the (other) sheep.
LOL, nice. Now she thinks she's a dog.
Blossom and Hank....the new dynamic duo. So do you think she will stay in the barn now. I imagine it can't be easy to give her up. Thinking about you guys...hope all is well...we have been melting. Ahah! Sara is playing on my radio. Hugs to all from Skoog Farm.
Boy, I almost feel hard-hearted about my "poor" bottle lamb. He only got to spend one night in the house, since he was so cold he couldn't even suck. Since then, it's been out with the rest of the sheep, snuggled up with the rest of the lambs on cold nights. I weaned this weekend because I was going to be gone. That way I missed most of the complaining! Blossom sure is a cutey-pie.
I predict Blossom will be running the show here shortly....
Blossom stories make my day complete!
Kudos to both of you. I hope she florishes.
I bet she misses you at night! It sounds like Hank is going to take over for you! :)
That is the BEST book!!! We still read it together.... lol
