Springtime? Seriously?

I'm probably the only one disappointed by the weather yesterday. Even the bees were happy (more on that tomorrow).

I guess it was kind of nice to walk out the backdoor and see Ewenice and Renny sunbathing in the yard.

With the Adventure Chickens. If you look closely (click to biggify) you'll see another one down the hill on the other side of the fence.

They were everywhere. Very busy those chickens.

I took Renny's coats off in hopes her wool had started regrowing enough that if she had a few warm days to reacclimate she might not have to wear them on "normal" Kentucky winter days. Sadly, while some new wool is starting to come in, most of what is there is pretty fragile and still falling out.

And some of that dried like concrete pond mud is still there. Look how high it comes up on her belly. That's how deep she was buried...for several days. What a story.

Why do I get the feeling that Crazy Esther is Renny's guardian angel?

Too cute, Renny is a survivor and will do great, plus she looks smart in her coat..:-)

Buried in concrete? OK. Perhaps enough time has passed and since I can see that there IS a happy ending, now might be the time for me to learn the story of how Renny came to live with you.

Could you send me a link?

Pond mud that dried like concrete. Poorly worded - sorry 'bout that. Here is a link to one of the news reports.

Renny is a miracle sheep for sure. They look so beautiful out there in the sun. We had so much activity here yesterday too--the chickens, ducks and peacocks were everywhere and happy as clams :)

And I'm about 99.9 percent sure she ran into that mud to escape dogs chasing her. Sheep don't like mud and water and there was another sheep there dead without a mark on it. That sounds like dogs ran it to death if I had to guess.

While it is painful to see the reminders of her past suffering, to be sure the day will come when Renny won't need to wear the most loved coat ever. The memories are sure to longer on.

That coat probably feels like a security blanket to her at this point. But good that she can go without it here and there so that come spring you can wean her off of it once her own lovely wool comes back. I always love to see Miss Ewenice sunbathing, head tilted upwards!

I hope Renny's wool starts growing soon...

Happy New Year!

I love your felted sheep. Is there anyway to purchase some?

Not sure I understand her being there so long. Where were her owners? Obviously if you are caring for her now they weren't too interested. Renny is very lucky to have you.

Spring holds so much promise...not sure I would complain about Spring in January. I was just teasing my skateboarding son that we only have five more months until summer.

Oh dear. That sounds terrible! I don't believe I will follow the link. I will send prayers to her old owners who sound like they are quite lost.

I am so glad Renny's wool is growing in, and now that she is safe and getting regular healthy eats, I am sure her new wool is healthy and will be warm when she has enough of it.

Looks like you will have a nice black fleece there someday.

Miss Ewenice has such a regal profile - she reminds me of a Roman senator! I'm so happy Renny was able to have a few hours in the sun. She's very blessed to be in your kind hands. A very Happy New Year to you, your family, and all your critters.

It almost looks like spring there...but I'm sure that's not the truth. It was 8 degrees this AM...in town is was -18...keep those sheep sheets on!

Sigh. I thought enough time had passed so that I could follow the link. I watched the news video. I promptly had a nightmare about it last night. That precious, precious Renny. Bless her and you.

To other readers: There are no graphics in the news video that would upset you, just the story did it for me.

Oh, gosh! It still breaks my heart what she has had to go through. I hope I am as strong as she is if I ever have to go through anything.
