There Is Never Enough Time To Do All The Fun Stuff

But Robin, Julie and I gave it a good shot again this year!  One of the most fun things we did was take Frankie for a couple drives :-D.  There are too many pictures here, but Julie took so many good ones that it was hard to pick just a few.

The reason Frankie looks like Batman is because he has really been having trouble with biting flies this summer.  We lost three weeks of training because of them.  I stumbled across this "Bug Armor" suit from Cashel and it's working like a charm.

Go Frankie!  He's still learning how to pull up hills, but he's getting better every drive.

Kate got a good workout both days as well.

This was Frankie's first trip through a "bridge". I didn't let him look at it ahead of time at a walk. I just asked him to trot on through. He didn't bat an eye.  I am very impressed with this horse.

Photographer's turn!  Frankie stood like a gentleman while we switched passengers and he added another member to the Frankie fan club :-).

Brilliant boy! I’m so glad you’ve been able to solve the biting fly problem. And now Frankie’s got his Halloween costume already sorted!

The biting flies have been very bad here also. I like the fly suit. It's fun getting to see Frankie "learning"

My Mother used to drive and compete in the Walnut Hill Carriage Show here in Western New York. What fun - a lot of work - but fun! You and each of your passengers look as if they are enjoying the step back in time! And I can tell that you are a great whip, Sara!

What breed is Frankie ? I can't tell by looking at him.

Frankie really IS a rockstar! Unflappable so far and a good sport about carting around my extra ballast. ;-) When it's just you in the cart again he will fly! (Or at least be really relieved.) Can't wait to see what heights he reaches with you!

He really is the perfect horse for me. He's my alter ego. He loves cold weather, not jazzed about hot. Likes a standard routine and doesn't like to change it. Willing to work, but enjoys stopping to stand in the shade. And as Tim put it "the boy is quirky". He really is, in lots of little ways.

I am so sad about Walnut Hill ending :-(.

Frankie's a Standardbred. His backstory is here: http://myfavoritesheep.blogspot.com/2019/01/2019-is-off-to-not-racing-start.html

Good boy, Frankie! (I think he kind of likes it when people mistake him for Batman.... :-) )

Love Kate going along to make sure it all goes well. :-)

yeah Frankie and the Escort Kate! In the olden days they used a fly "cape" or "net" it had dangly things underneath that moved with the horse moved...I have read that they work well:)
