Keebler

This is the internet's favorite picture of Keebler.  It shows up everywhere.

But this is my favorite picture of Keebler.  This is the picture my mind calls up when I search for a image of Keebler even though there were so many other good ones.  He grew from an adorable lamb into a handsome photogenic sheep.  This always remained my favorite.

When the vet came on Saturday, I held his head in the crook of my arm like that and once again this picture came to mind.  Or maybe my heart.  I love all of our sheep, but some...  There is another big hole in the flock.

I'd like to say that Keebler would want to tell everyone to get up and take a walk every day. Stay active so your legs hold up longer.  But he wouldn't.  He'd say "Meh. Enjoy life sitting in the shade in front of a fan or in the warm sun in the winter."

I don't know what's the right answer.  But getting up and taking a walk every day probably wouldn't hurt anyone.

So sorry, Sara. He obviously was loved and will always be remembered by many, many people. All sheep would love to be YOUR sheep.

Keebs was my first church lamb to hold. I think he only tolerated one Sunday at church. I will miss Keebs
He loved his nailla wafers. We had a great cookie day last week and a good back rub.

It's SO hard when they leave us but it's a comfort to know we WILL see them again. If Heaven won't take our animals I"m just going to go where they go instead. He had a great life with you. <>

As I clicked the link from FB the words please don't let anything be wrong with Keebler formed in my mind. A few lines in I knew sobbing might be next. I found you at Liddy but Graham and Keebler stole my heart anytime they represented. Heartbreaking reality that I guess needs to be pushed out of the way so you can have the good stuff. Hugs from Laurie Maine.

Oh No
I am so sorry Sara
Sheep that come to live with you have wonderful home and a loving shepherdess and blog followers who laugh and cry with you as the need arises. Keebler and Graham are reunited one again.
Sending lots of hugs for you and all the family at Equinox Farm

Oh, Sara. I'm so, so sorry. Hard times, for sure. May the pain fade and leave only the good memories. Hopefully sweet Biscuit will distract you a bit for the next few days.

Oh no! When I saw his lamb photo posted - I just knew. I am so sorry. Keebler, per your many posts about him, was such a sweet fellow. How dreadfully painful it must have been for you to make this decision. To phone the vet. Now to look in the barn and field, and see him in neither place. He had a life well lived, in the paradise for sheep you've worked so hard (with Tim's ever so saintly help) to create - but that's no comfort. Virtual hugs.

You have a tough job. Heartbreaking to hear this news, you are an amazing shepherd. Thank you for always keeping it real on how tough managing your farm is. I treasure your posts.

I love that you share the beauty of your farm and your heart and your sheep and your wool talents. But when you share your losses and struggles, I know that you know you are not alone. We are all here sharing in the cuteness of each new lamb that finds its way to Equinox and each death that finds it's its way into our hearts.
Happy to have met you Keebs.

I am so sorry about Keebs. I'm sure there is a happy Graham in Sheep Heaven, though, saying "Welcome brother! The grass is always green here and the temps are never above 65 degrees."

Precious baby. I, like many of your readers, have watched him (and all your wooly babies) grow up and become big sheep girls and boys with attitudes. I'm so sorry to hear the new of Keebler's passing.

All last week I was waiting for another post. And the longer I waited, the more concerned I got, there was just this niggling little thought in the back of my mind. As soon as I saw the one word post title, I knew.

I'm so sorry. I know the words are cold comfort right now, but I don't have anything better to offer.

We'll miss hearing the latest news about him.

Well I'm sick over this. First Graham, now Keebler. We weren't prepared for this!!! I'm so so sorry!! There's a spot in our hearts where he will forever stay. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Sara, I'm so very sorry. As I sit here in tears over a sheep I never met, it struck me how very connected you let your readers become to each and every one. I wish they could live longer. . . like cats, dogs, and so many other wonderful furry family members, their time with us is far too short.

Thank you for the privilege of getting to know everyone in your flock and in your family. You provide so much enjoyment to your readers, probably more than you'll ever know. For the past 5+ years you have given me a glimpse into the life I wish I could have made for myself, and I'm so grateful to be able to have that.

Bless his heart, now Keebler can join Graham and the others while Queen Elizabeth rides herd on them from her heavenly Del Boca Vista. <3
