Well I Guess That's What You Get...

For leaving polyester unprotected in a flock of wool sheep :-o.

This used to be one of my favorite hats.  Saint Tim gave it to me several years ago and it's perfect, like all hats are (even ones that are too big ;-).  From mid fall to early spring, you'll never catch me without a hat, frequently even in the house.  As they say, "If your feet are cold, put on a hat."  I stay toasty warm all winter.

The sun came out yesterday and the footing wasn't too, too terrible, so I decided to go for a short ride.  I usually groom and tack up in front of the outside stalls.  The last thing I do is take off my fleece hat and put on my riding helmet.  I usually do that inside, in the tack room where the helmet hangs, but for some reason yesterday I carried it all outside.   I left my pretty green hat tucked into my brush box.

We had a nice ride.  Moving around was plenty warm, but when I got back to the barn and took off my helmet, I immediately reached for my warm hat.  Oops, I guess I took it off inside.  Nope, not there. Looked again in my brush box where I was sure I'd left it...nothing.  Started looking around and found it down the hill!  And it wasn't this clean :-o.  And it had some holes chewed in it!!!

Did Hank do this???

Of course he didn't.  First of all, the only thing he's ever hauled off is plastic feed scoops and McDonald's coffee cups (his favorite).  He carries them carefully down to the creek and hides them in his "stash". They aren't tromped into the mud.  They aren't chewed up.

And they aren't covered in sloppy, foamy, slobbery, sucked on, chewed up spots!

I should have taken a picture then rather than after I'd cleaned it off and worn it several hours.  I just kept going back to "the scene of the crime"...and sort of laughing (in one of the "those wacky kids sure wish they hadn't ruined my good hat" sort of ways).  In the end though I decided that's just what I get for wearing a polyester hat on a wool farm ;-).

If I had to guess I'd say it was one of the boys and probably Woody or Murphy.  Might have been Baaxter, but I doubt it.  He's probably the one that carried off the brush.  He's a tool man ;-).  If Maisie had done it, she'd have probably tried to swallow it whole and then I'd have found her choking on it or something!

Those wacky kids...

Perhaps this was a Graham snack?

You should see what Ramsey would have done to it. Let's just say that, you wouldn't have been putting it back on - ever:)

Silly sheep deserve a silly limerick:

Thought she'd left her green knit cap inside,
while she took her horse for a ride.
But she was mistaken
For some sheep had taken
her hat for a snack that's two-plied!

Silly sheep indeed!

Miss Maisie would have pawed it into the ground (if she didn't try to swallow it whole). My bet is that it was that silly Woody. He has a hard time leaving anything, or anyone, alone. I had to stuff my knitting into my shirt to keep it away from him.

Too bad about the hat. I like it!

Needle felt yourself a flower or two and sew on top, no on will notice the hole, Have you thought about felting the 'too big' hat instead of frogging it?

Sounds like something Willy would have done :-)

Well, plenty of culprits to go around but Auntie Reg has the right of it. And yes, it was the 'taste' of you that made someone do it!! Nice Limerick Alice!

Those Boys.... They were actually gonna bring it out to you :-) They don't get the helmet thing - Thought you still needed a hat. Felt up a flower and tack it on there and your good to go till you knit up another favorite.

I'm quite sure Baaxter didn't do it. He's just too perfect to do something like that. Sweet Baby. ;)
