Yarning (Not) Along

I tried living in denial that my sleeve was looking too big.  I was pretty close to right on gauge and had cast on the correct number of stitches, but it just looked way too big.  I'd pull it over my wrist and yeah, it looked too big.  Or at least bigger than the tailored look the pattern pictures show.  I finally pulled out a couple of my favorite sweaters just to make sure I wasn't over-thinking things...and, yep, it's too big :-/.  Headed to frog (rip it, rip it) city, but better now than several more inches in.  Sigh.

I haven't been reading anything.  Heck, I've barely had time to knit.  I'm so far behind, I'm even a day late for the Yarn Along :-(.

That's a vintage Woolrich sweater. There's a dark green version that came out several years later...but it isn't WOOL!!!

I think you are awesome just because you know how to knit!

That's why I stick to afghans and scarfs, anything that needs a twin is not in my capabilities, they would look like faternal twins maybe, but socks and sleeves should be identical twins. Now after you have been to the frog pond I am sure you can correct the problem .... I saw your Marcel sweater you can do this one too.

?! What do you mean it is not wool?? Is it fiber, then? And I do not mean the one you find in a cereal box:-).

Cotton/linen/acrylic/??? blends. Don't even get me started. I even wrote them a letter about it. Most of their recent designs have Not. Been. Wool. Woolrich??? Seriously??? ;-)

yep it looks big
but I love the sheepies
on the other sweater
Did you ever have a sheep named Woolrich?

Okay, but seriously...please come and spin our sheep's wool and knit us some sweaters! Your stuff is just gorgeous. Free accommodation in Scotland!

ok I'm totally ignorant about knitting, but did you knit the measuring sweater? with sheep and leaves... if you did, I'm blown to kingdom come.

I love the sweater too. Is the pattern on Ravelry? I tried to find it but couldn't. It is beautiful.

That would frustrating to rip it and begin again. The sweater for measuring is beautiful. If you made it, it is outstanding work.

The measuring sweater is not hand knitted, but it could be with a little/lot of effort ;-). It's a vintage Woolrich sweater - maybe upwards to 20 years old.

Having ripped a knitted piece down to the beginning is both stinging and a relief at the same time. Kinda like pulling a bandaid off your skin. You'll feel better once you start again.
I like roomy arms on sweaters to be able to accommodate long sleeved turtlenecks but you know best what looks in scale with the body of the sweater.
Enjoy the journey.....
