Sunday Stills - Potluck

This past Sunday I went out on the river with Saint Tim. It was a beautiful spring day and we enjoyed the peaceful quiet of early morning. We were not far from town and could hear one of the downtown church's bells ringing out favorite hymns for almost an hour and it brought a new depth to "river church".

This is a click to biggify shot. I was trying to capture the water drops zinging off his line as he cast. I like the bokeh behind the tiny droplets.

I like the line in this shot, but am not crazy about the glare.** Good practice though and I'll know what to work on next time. Again, fun to biggify.

I'd just been wondering what animal(s) used the paths all along the river when I spotted this fox. Interesting markings with the black legs and white on his or her face. Wish this were sharper, but still glad to have it. A fox is always a good catch.

A reflective turtle.

A coot? Again, not a great background (could I complain any more about my pictures?!?), but a bird we'd like to remember. And how could you really complain about such a nice way to start a day.

For more Sunday Stills...

** When I showed these pictures to Tim he popped off with "That's my saintly glow, not often captured in photographs."

See what I have to live with???

The biggified shots look good with the water droplets. And a fox in the daylight - great find!

Great shot of the fox! What is bokeh? is it the same as DOF (depth of field)?

Great shots. Now I want to go fishing. Ed bought us our "senior" lifetime fishing licenses when he was home. :)

I love the first. I am a huge fan of bokeh. Such a beautiful place you guys live.

The last one - if the background had been different (say green brush) I don't think the bird would have been as clear. I love all the photos.

I had to look it up, but I like the bokeh, too!

The bokeh is a nice compliment to the water droplets making it a really interesting composition.
The fox, duck and turtle are also great animal captures. Looks like you had a lucky day with your camera. Maybe Saint Tim's halo shined the way;-)

fantastic shots. thanks for all the tips. Great backgrounds with the bokeh - now I just need to figure out how to do that! You did a fabulous job on capturing the water droplets, and the wildlife! Love the fox!

Love the water and the fox. I saw a fox the other morning eating one of my chickens. I was not sure if I should be awed by his beauty or poed that he was eating one of my chickens. Unfortunately I was charging my batteries and could not get a shot.

Great selections of potluck photos. I especially like the nature shots. It's not easy to capture one of a fox. What a lucky day!
