I'd like to introduce you to a friend who's been weaving pretty regularly on the Wool House porch this summer.
Orb Weavers are distinguished by their organized and circular webs. I wish I'd gotten a better picture of her underside. Doesn't it look like her "weft" is pulling straight from her heart as she quickly weaves around and around her "warp"?

I always enjoy watching the day to day progress of a spider growing along with spinning a web. Usually a few to follow in the fall (next to the dog run, up on the porch, and recently a small spider working in-between the screen and window in the bathroom at eye level...something to watch daily while I brush my teeth.
I find spider webs amazing. Just how the spiders work so hard and are so precise. How do they do that!
It is time for many webs...I have cobwebs:(
I'm one of those people who can't abide spiders in the house but outside or in my barn they are most welcome! We had orb weavers at the last place we lives, in the rafters of our porch. We had the ones that looked like they had a cat face or a clown face on them.
I have one in my tomatoes, of all things, but I leave her be.
Fascinating artisans. Hard working too.
Thanks for sharing critters big and small with us.
I am just learning to weave. It's not coming too easily to me. I do wish I had her skill.
WE had a resident spider who weaved between a awning pole and wind chimes, needless to say it didn't work out for them but they keep trying :O
