As long time readers of the blog already know, if I wasn't the crazy sheep lady, I'd be the crazy ferry lady. I love having our wool processed at Ohio Valley Natural Fibers, but I just as equally love the ferry ride crossing the Ohio River over and back at Augusta, Kentucky.
Auntie Reg and I got up with the chickens this morning to make sure we'd get to the ferry ramp for the first shuttle across to Ohio. We made it, too! Until we saw this...
It was the American Queen, docked next to the ferry ramp.
Needless to say, we missed the first ferry :-D.
While the American Queen was a very exciting and impressive sight, the Jenny Ann will always be my favorite river boat and we happily drove aboard on the second shuttle :-).
Exciting and impressive fiber pictures coming tomorrow.

Thanks for the share I miss seeing the river boats , we haven't been to a family reunion down to my dads family where we would see them often ~ and I would always think of Mark Twain .lol
Fabulous! I wanna go next time!
The Jenny Ann, what a great name. Ferry rides are always fun.
That steam boat is totally massive!!!
I had no idea you could take a ferry boat in that area... Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to hear more :-)
Neat, neat, NEAT!
I'm thinking of sending some of our fiber to Ohio Valley this year; I've heard wonderful things!
I want to go for a ferry ride too!
I would like a ferry ride too...I was recently reading about the American Queen what an adventure that would be:)
We spent a week in Louisville a few years ago. Our hotel was right next to the river. The Ohio is a very impressive river!
How cool, to take a ferry across, instead of a boring old bridge. :-)
I've wondered about taking a cruise on a river boat. If they had good interpreters aboard, telling about the history/nature/etc of what you were looking at as you cruised, it could be really fun. (And if the food is good, of course. :-) )
Ouch! Sorry, an eyesore.
If you love ferries...plan an excursion along the West Coast of Canada up from Vancouver and back and forth to Vancouver Island. Stunning scenery, wild Orca's and fabulous ferries!
Wow, YOUR ferry makes our ferry crossings of the Willamette River look like puddle-jumps!
Very cool!
I might have been sidetracked too.
