I'm enjoying playing around with the colors and patterning for my winter mittens. The cuff is good I think, sort of a simple holly leaf look. The next section...I don't like how it's centered so am taking it back down and adding in one extra stitch so I can move it over and give it a completely centered look because that's totally irrationally important ;-).
I have a little over 350 yards of the black Jacob/Texel spun. I am super happy with this yarn and can't wait to start weaving. I think it's going to make a fabulous throw.
It's a lot of dark, solid color though. I think an accent color, maybe a group of stripes running the length, would be nice. My original thought was gray, but the "black" is more of a dark, dark, dark brown. Sort of a warm black...if that makes sense. Maybe a brown stripe would be better?
Just for example/experiment I pulled out a handful of the walnut dyed roving. Also a chunk of white. Which do you prefer? Or something completely different?

I agree, all those colors would look good and break up the dark, dark, dark brown.
I am sure whatever you decide to go with will be prefect. On no not along sight to check out. I'm never ever going to get anything done around here.

I can't give an opinion on a complement for the weaving yarn. You are so NOT an orange/pink/red or stripe person that it would be hard to choose any. A teal/turquoise color goes well with dark brown and might be more a favorite combo . Whatever you choose it will be gorgeous, to be sure.
You weave too!! You really are amazing. I have a table top loom but, so far all I have done it look at it and dream. I guess I just need to sit down and start!
I think the walnut dyed roving would make a nice addition to the dark brown wool.

I like the dark brown with grey and white stripes and in addition Alice's idea of a turquoise!
Lovely! Do you like Jacob wool? My neighbor raises those types of sheep, and I've been debating about buying a few of them and learning to spin. Well, I'll learn how to spin either way, but it would be doubly fun to have some sheep. ;)
Diane MacDonald may have some blue wool from a relative of one of your sheep or some blue dye to give you to color your own :-). Just a thought.
I, too, think you should use the grey, brown, and cream with the dark dark brown/black.

I love the dark, dark, almost black, brown. I think I would stick with just a white stripe. No additional colors at all. It would be striking.
Is this from one of your sheep? Which one is a Texel?

Shetlands produce some greyed brown tones that I think would look fab with that dark yarn!
I vote cream. The dark, dark brown reminds me of dark roast coffee and I like me some cream with my coffee!
That's going to be a pretty mitten. I love the dark wool but not the gray with it. The dark is warm so I like both the warm brown and the white.
I like the walnut. The combination will be striking.
I agree with Christine......I like the walnut but, hey, it's YOUR throw! was the Jacob and Texel commercially spun? Tell me it is or I am going to be SOOOO jealous :) and that mitten is going to be only for Sunday go to meetings I am sure, and yes, if you don't move that stitch it will be the ONLY thing you see when you look at it.

With a math background, I totally understand the need for your pattern to be centered. Not irrational, just necessary.
There is something very earthy in the color and texture of this dark yarn. Love it!
I also like the knitted sample color combination you have there. If going with the dark as your main color, why not accent it with a few other earthy or fall colors such as mossy green or rust (the walnut sample you have here or similar hue)?
The dark yarn seems to have a good soft feel to it. I wish I could touch it through the screen...
