Seed-eorologists

I don't need the weather channel to tell me what the weather's going to do. I just look out the window and if I see more than one or two cardinals at the feeder at one time, I know to batten down the hatches, put the rugs on the horses and double check the heater in the green (I mean cat) house.

We live where it doesn't snow but a few flakes a year, if that. But, the cardinals predict the weather just the same. I feed them on our front porch and if there are lots, along with juncos and the other assortment of small birds, I know we're in for a cold snap.

We are, however, seeing fewer and fewer seed-feeders as Spring approaches. The cardinals, yes(they nest in our backyard and the dads teach the babies to fly), but the other birds not so much. Last Friday I took a picture of a ROBIN!!! First one I've seen.

Hang in there, only 36 more days til Spring!

What a gorgeous picture! My grandmother loved cardinals and I always think of her when I see them.

I have to agree. It is amazing how they know that the weather is going to get bad.
